Winter sunflower is an annual herb of Malvaceae, which has high nutritional value, and its main edible parts are seedlings or tender stems and leaves. And the whole plant can also be used as medicine, with various effects such as diuresis and lactation, moistening intestines and defecation. The planting area in our country is relatively large, so when should we plant winter sunflower? How to plant it? The following editor brings you the planting time and methods of winter sunflower, let's have a look!

1. Planting time

If the winter sunflower is cultivated in the open field, it is usually carried out in spring and autumn. Because the heat resistance of winter sunflower is relatively poor, so if sowing in summer, it is easy to appear the phenomenon of dead seedlings, so it is not suitable to be planted in summer. In the northern region, because after entering the autumn, the temperature is relatively low, can not be cultivated in the open field. Therefore, in the north, spring sowing is the main method, usually after the soil is thawed in March. Sowing time should not be too late, otherwise the increase in temperature and light will affect the quality of winter sunflower. If it is cultivated in a solar greenhouse, it can be sowed in batches for annual production.

2. Soil preparation and fertilization

Winter sunflower has no strict requirements on soil and can grow normally on most types of soil. Winter sunflower can be planted in both barren and fertile soil, but although it can grow normally, it will have a certain impact on the yield and quality of winter sunflower. Therefore, the soil should mainly be soft and fertile soil with good drainage and irrigation. Before sowing, we should do a good job in soil preparation, apply about rotten farm manure 2500kg per mu, and mix in an appropriate amount of ternary compound fertilizer. Then the soil is turned deep and raked flat to make a wide bed ready for sowing.

3. Sowing seeds at the right time

The main reproduction method of winter sunflower is sowing and reproduction, and if it is direct seeding, strip sowing is often used. Control the row spacing around the 20cm to dig the sowing ditch, then spread the seeds evenly into the ditch, and then cover the soil. If it is to raise seedlings, then first do a good job of seed soaking and germination, soak the seeds in warm water for about 10 hours, and then remove and dry them and put them in a 22-degree environment wrapped in a wet cloth. Then level the seedbed, pour it thoroughly, sow the seeds evenly, and cover a layer of fine soil of about one centimeter after sowing the seeds. Watering the seedlings in time after emergence, doing a good job of ploughing, weeding and water and fertilizer management.

4. Field management

When the seedlings grow to three true leaves and one heart leaf, the distance between plants should be controlled at about 5 cm to do a good job of seedlings. Then the seedlings were fixed when 5 true leaves were grown, and the row spacing was controlled at 15*25cm. In the seedling stage, the growth of weeds is also relatively exuberant, so we should pay attention to weeding work, while appropriate ploughing, to prevent the emergence of soil consolidation. After the seedlings were fixed, the seedlings were properly watered and fertilized, and urea was the main fertilizer, and about 6kg was applied per mu. After entering the later stage of harvest, we should pay attention to control the application of nitrogen fertilizer to prevent nitrate residues from exceeding the standard.

The above is a brief introduction of the planting time and methods of winter sunflower. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can be helpful to all of you.
