On the 18th, an expert group invited by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture checked and accepted the key project "Technology of double-cropping Super Rice in South China with an annual yield of 3,000 jin per mu" chaired by Yuan Longping, the father of hybrid rice in Xingning City, Guangdong Province. After on-site yield measurement, the expert group announced that the average yield per mu of the project in the early season was 703.9 kg, with the highest yield reaching 738.5 kg, laying a good foundation for the double-season yield of 3000 jin per mu.

Tang Xiangru, a professor at South China Agricultural University and one of the project guidance experts, told reporters that the project covers an area of 110 mu and adopts the model of "Super 1000" variety + double-cropping super rice strong source living bank rice (strong source refers to enhancing leaf photosynthesis, living bank refers to improving grain activity of rice, increasing starch content, and excellent rice refers to improving taste and quality of rice) cultivation technology + transplanting seedlings with rice bowl machine.

"our country's rice technology is already at the international advanced level, and if we can achieve a yield of 3000 jin per mu in this double season, it will be a new world record." Yuan Longping said.

In October 2014, the variety "Y Liangyou 900" hosted by Yuan Longping achieved a breakthrough of 1000 kg per mu in the demonstration film of 100 mu in Longshan, Hunan Province.
