Pea is a common vegetable in our life, which is planted widely, but it is prone to basic rot in pea seedling stage, which will cause slow growth, collapse and death of seedlings. So how to control pea base rot? Let's get to know it with the editor.

1. Occurrence of symptoms

Pea basic rot, also known as pea seedling blight, mainly occurs in the seedling stage of pea, which will harm pea seeds and seedlings. After the seedling is diseased, constriction and decay will appear at the base of the stem or root neck, the diseased part is brown to reddish brown, and the disease spot on the cotyledon is nearly round and reddish brown. The base of the stem or root neck produces oval or long stripe disease spot, or the disease spot will gradually sunken, when it extends to around the stem, the disease part will contract or crack, causing the seedlings to grow slowly or gradually withered, and light brown arachnoid mold will grow when the humidity is high.

2. Occurrence regularity

The pathogen of pea-based rot-mycelium or sclerotia overwintered in the soil and could rot in the soil for 2-3 years. The hyphae could directly invade the host and spread through watering and farming operations. The root rot pathogen can reproduce between 13 and 42 degrees, and the most suitable temperature is 24 degrees. In addition, the disease can be easily induced by over-dense sowing, untimely seedlings, high temperature or out-of-season cultivation.

3. Preventive measures

Pea bogey continuous cropping should be rotated with non-legumes for more than three years, which can reduce the number of pathogens in the plot and reduce the possibility of disease. Varieties with strong cold tolerance should be selected when planting, at the same time, seedlings should be raised in sites with good drainage and sunny, and disease-free soil should be used as bed soil. if old beds are used to raise seedlings, the bed soil should be fully sunny. Before planting, the cutting crops and weeds should be eradicated. If the soil is deeply tanned or flooded for 3 or 4 days, the pupae hidden in the soil can be eliminated and the occurrence of diseases and insect pests can be reduced. During soil preparation, 600-750 kg of quicklime can be applied per mu, and the pH value of the soil can be adjusted to prevent soil-borne diseases. Diseased plants found in cultivation should be pulled out in time, or diseased parts should be removed and taken out of the field for treatment.

4. Chemical control

At the initial stage of the disease, methyl parathion EC, thiophanate methyl, Jinggangmycin and carbendazim can be applied to prevent and cure the disease, but when Rhizoctonia solani and Pythium occur together, the disease can be prevented and treated every 7-10 days for 2-3 times.
