Carrot is a very nutritious vegetable, which has a very large planting area in our country. Management is important when planting carrots, but the storage after harvest can not be ignored. Especially in the low temperature environment in winter, if the storage work is not done well, it will have a great impact on the economic benefits. So how to store carrots in winter? Let's take a look at it with the editor.

1. Gully storage

When storing carrots in the ditch, first of all, we should dig the storage ditch, and the width of the storage ditch should be kept at about 1 meter. Not too wide, if too wide, then it will affect the temperature, reduce the soil heat preservation effect, can not effectively maintain the temperature in the ditch. The depth is about 70 centimeters deeper than in the local permafrost in winter. Then the length of the ditch should be controlled according to the storage capacity, and the thick soil covered with soil should be properly adjusted according to the changes of the environment during storage. The storage ditch should choose the place with high topography, low water level and strong soil water retention to ensure the storage effect.

You can sprinkle the carrots directly in the ditch and keep the thickness at about 50 centimeters. Prevent carrots from rotting due to excessive heat and can be stacked with wet sand to improve humidity and carbon dioxide content around the carrots. Before putting it into the ditch, you should cover the surface of the carrots with a layer of fine soil, and then cover the soil in batches as the temperature drops, mainly to avoid decay or freezing damage. Then we should pay attention to observe the temperature in the ditch to facilitate timely adjustment.

2. Stacking storage

Carrots can be stored in a cellar or in a ventilation vault in bulk or in palletizing. The height of stacking should not be too high, generally should be kept at about 1 meter, if too high, it is easy to cause carrots to rot. In order to improve the ventilation and heat dissipation of the stack, a ventilator should be set up at an interval of about two meters between each pile. In stacking storage, it is best to use wet sand for stratification, and its effect is much better than that of bulk storage. Can improve moisture retention and carbon dioxide. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the temperature in the cellar, cover the grass curtain properly when it is too low, avoid freezing, and finally check it regularly. If it is found that there is decay, it should be picked out in time.

3. Semi-closed storage method

The semi-closed storage method is mainly stored in the ventilation warehouse. First of all, the carrots should be stacked into several rectangular pallets in the ventilation vault. At the beginning of storage or before the storage temperature rises, use plastic film to cover the palletizing cover. The bottom of the palletizing can be kept in a semi-closed state without bedding film, which can reduce the oxygen concentration and avoid carrot oxidation. Maintain a high humidity environment so as to improve the storage effect of carrots. The film can be opened regularly for ventilation during storage to maintain a good environment.

The above is a brief introduction to the storage of carrots in winter. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can be helpful to everyone.
