Field management of the latest cassava
You may not have eaten cassava, but you must be familiar with cassava flour. There is a lot of cassava powder in the bread and other things we eat every day. Cassava is mainly used as the main raw material of all kinds of industrial starch. Now the planting area of cassava is larger, but some still don't know how to manage it. Cassava has different management methods in each growth stage, so today the editor brings you the management methods of different growth stages of cassava. Let's take a look at it.
1. Management at seedling stage
Cassava is fragile in the seedling stage. When the ambient temperature is 20 degrees or above, cassava can sprout in about a week. Two months after emergence is the most vigorous period for the root growth of cassava, but the plant growth ability will decline during this period. Most of the nutrients for the growth of seedlings are provided through the storage of nutrients in the stems, and the growth and rooting of the roots also need certain nutrients. Therefore, in the seedling stage, we should not only control the temperature, but also improve the supply of fertilizer, promote the growth of seedlings, and prevent planting failure caused by insufficient nutrition.
2. Root formation stage
The root formation period is generally about 2-3 months after planting, which is also the peak growth period of cassava, and the amount of tuber is greatly increased. After 3 months, the root growth of cassava has basically taken shape, and each plant generally has about 7 root tubers. The growth rate of stems and leaves is accelerated, and branches begin to appear at the top. The formation of root tuber is closely related to soil fertility and surrounding environment. When the soil is fertile, loose and deep, and the humidity is normal, it is beneficial to the formation of root tubers. If the soil is hardened, it will affect the tuber quantity and quality of root tubers.
3. Root tuber expansion period
After the root formation stage, it comes to the root expansion stage, which is the most important period in the cassava growth stage. Because at this time the cassava stem and leaf growth ability is very strong, the number of new leaves is very large, the demand for nutrition is also greatly increased. In order to meet the demand for nutrition during the expansion period, if there is no adequate nutrition, the expansion of the root tuber will be blocked, which will have a great impact on the quality. After the expansion period, the old leaves will gradually fall automatically, and then the expansion of the tuber will be completed gradually. When the leaves are bare, the expansion period of the root tuber is gradually over.
4. Tuber maturity
The mature period of cassava is naturally at the end of the expansion period. The mature period of cassava is usually about 10 months. After normal and reasonable planting management in the early stage, the root tuber has fully expanded and matured. The plants on the ground will gradually stop growing and the physiological phenomenon of falling leaves will appear. The growth of the tuber gradually ends and the water evaporates slowly. At this time, we should harvest at the right time to prevent growing for too long to lead to the total loss of water in tubers and affect the quality. Pay attention to the strength when harvesting, otherwise violent harvesting will cause tubers to produce mechanical wounds, which can not be stored.
The above is the field management method of growing cassava. This article is for reference only. I hope it can help you. Thank you for your reading and support.
