Potatoes are the potatoes we often eat in our daily life. The number of potatoes consumed in our country is very large every year, so the planting area of potatoes is still very large. However, sometimes when the production of potatoes is too much, they can not be sold all at once, so it is necessary to do a good job of storage. So how do you store potatoes? The following editor has brought you the new storage technology of potatoes, let's have a look!

1. Storage characteristics

Potatoes will enter a dormant period after harvest. Dormancy period is about 3 and about, mainly because of different varieties. After the potato entered the dormant period, the respiration ability of tuber became weaker and the nutrient consumption was not much. Therefore, the environment will not have much impact on potatoes. Even if the surrounding environment is conducive to germination, the tubers do not sprout during the dormant period and usually do not begin to germinate until after the dormant period. Potato in the long-term light environment, will cause the tuber to change color, produce a toxic substance. Therefore, it is not suitable to see the light when storing potatoes.

2. Storage environment

The suitable storage temperature of potato is about 4 degrees. When storing potatoes, we must pay attention to control the temperature, and the temperature should not be too high or too low. If it is too high, it will easily cause the potato to sprout and lose its edible value. If it is too low, the starch in the potato will begin to transform like sugar. If potatoes are to be used to make potato chips, then the temperature should be controlled at about 12 degrees Celsius. Then the humidity is maintained at about 82%, and humidity control is also very important. If the humidity is too high, the potato is extremely perishable. If it is too low, it is easy to lack water and increase the loss.

3. Storage method

Trench reservoir

After the potato is harvested, put it in a ventilated and cool room and store it for about half a month. Stacking height should not exceed 50 cm, do a good job of ventilation and protection from light. If ditch hiding is used, then the time should be around October every year. First dig the ditch with a depth of about 1 meter, the width is controlled at about 1.2 meters, and the length depends on the quantity of storage. When the potato pieces are piled up to about 20 cm from the ground, they are covered with soil, and the thickness of the soil is kept at about 80 cm. With the change of temperature, do a good job of batch coverage, the stacking of potato pieces should not be too high, otherwise the temperature in the middle is easy to rot.

Cellar storage

Potatoes can also be stored in the cellar, the storage quantity should be controlled well, and the storage quantity in each cellar should be controlled around 3200kg. Because cellar ventilation can only use vents to adjust the temperature, so the heat preservation capacity is relatively strong. However, in the early stage of entering the cellar, the temperature is not easy to decrease. So be careful not to store too much. And should pay attention to do a good job in the opening and closing of the pit, and pay attention to laying grass curtains in winter.

The above is a brief introduction to the new technology of potato storage. The storage technology of potatoes is relatively simple, but attention should be paid to prevent decay. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can help you all.
