The usage and function of Snake Wood
Snake wood usage and function: put basin bottom, breathable, filter water.
Snake wood (Alsophila spinulosa) grows in the primeval forest of China and belongs to ferns. Thrived when dinosaurs were alive. After the extinction of dinosaurs, Alsophila spinulosa basically became extinct. Therefore, the snake wood for orchid cultivation in China was imported from Taiwan and Japan before the 1990s. Since the 1990s, Alsophila spinulosa root snake wood has been found in China's coastal and primeval forests. Since then, snake wood has been produced by itself.
However, Alsophila spinulosa belongs to the first-class protected plant in China, and it is clearly stipulated in the Forest Law of China that the national first-class protected plant cannot be cut down arbitrarily. Every kilogram of snake wood requires the sacrifice of one Alsophila spinulosa tree. Therefore, we advocate the protection of the national environment and resources, and try not to destroy the growth of Alsophila spinulosa trees, so we use water dispensers instead of snake wood.
Snake wood is the main raw material of Alsophila spinulosa root. After the ridge, it takes a year and a half to dry, break, disassemble, boil, sterilize, soak and cool before it can be used to cushion the basin. To put it simply, snake wood production requires the following steps: sun-knock-tear-boil-soak-cushion basin; the orchid seedlings cultivated with it are robust, easy to blossom, well-developed roots and luxuriant leaves. In temperature management, artificial cooling is limited. But because it is the rainy season, the temperature will not rise too high this month. The problem is that the occasional sun raises the temperature inside the orchid room. And the shading rate should be adjusted.
