26.25 million mu of crops in the four provinces of Northeast China have been affected by drought.
The Office of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters reported Tuesday that local drought has eased with significant precipitation in most parts of northeast China in recent days.
The circular shows that since July 25, most of the northeast region has experienced obvious precipitation process, especially 25 to 50 mm precipitation in parts of central and southern China. The accumulated average precipitation in Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Jilin and Inner Mongolia is 27 mm, 24 mm, 15 mm and 7 mm respectively. The drought in central and southern Liaoning, southwestern Jilin, central Heilongjiang and central Inner Mongolia has eased, but parts of southern Liaoning and northeastern Inner Mongolia still maintain high temperature and little rain, and the drought continues to develop.
According to the statistics of the State Office for Drought Prevention and Control as of July 29, 26.25 million mu of crops in Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia provinces (regions) are still affected by drought, and 540,000 people and 1.99 million large livestock have difficulty drinking water due to drought. Compared with the peak of drought, the drought-affected area of crops in the four provinces (regions) decreased by 24.3 million mu, including 10.79 million mu in Heilongjiang Province, 5.72 million mu in Liaoning Province, 4.86 million mu in Jilin Province and 2.93 million mu in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The number of people with drinking difficulties remained unchanged.
