Watermelon is one of many people's favorite fruits, but watermelon itself is very fragile. Not only is it very sensitive to the surrounding environment, but it will also encounter many diseases in the process of growth. If you are not careful, you may harm the whole watermelon field. What are the diseases that harm watermelon? The following small series will tell you about several common diseases of watermelon.

1. Watermelon blight

Watermelon blight usually occurs in the rainy season with high temperature, poor drainage system of watermelon land, and too close planting. It can harm the roots and stems of watermelon, and in severe cases, it can also affect the leaves and vines. Dark green patches appear at the root neck, and the patches develop around the stem, causing the stem to rot and eventually causing the whole plant to die. Foliaceous fruit and vine symptom are similar. Disease resistant varieties can be selected before sowing, such as Qiongxue. Do not rotate watermelon with melons and vegetables after harvest. If diseased melons are found, they should be removed in time to prevent infection. When there is melon disease, it can be sprayed with pesticides for prevention and control. For example, frost urea manganese zinc, etc., sprayed once a week for about a month.

2. Watermelon leaf blight

Watermelon leaf blight is a common disease in watermelon, the incidence is higher in spring and autumn, mainly due to more rainy weather. Leaf blight mainly damages leaves, followed by vines and fruits. Most of the disease occurs on young leaves, irregular brown patches on young leaves, continuous growth causes leaves to wither, and when it occurs on fruits and vines, fruits and vines rot. There are special disease resistant varieties on the market, such as Zhengza 7. After harvest, we should pay attention to cleaning up the sick melons and focus on burning them. Establish a drainage system for watermelon fields, and pay attention to rain prevention in rainy weather. Before the disease spots are not produced, Sukeling WP can be used for spraying control, which is also a week, spraying for about a month.

3. Watermelon blight

Blight usually occurs during fruiting. The seedlings will stand up in a withered state, causing the entire leaf to wither and the vine roots to rot and turn brown. Mainly because the bacteria enter through the wound of the root, grow in the cell, secrete pectinase and other substances to destroy the cell, resulting in duct blockage unable to transport water and nutrients. The best way to control blight is to graft watermelon onto crops that are less susceptible to blight, such as gourds. The varieties resistant to Fusarium wilt in the market have Xinong No. 8 and so on. To prevent blight, rotate water-based crops in watermelon fields, because blight can survive in water for only 100 days. Finally, choose soil rich in nutrients, do not use fertilizer with sick bodies.

4. Watermelon gray mold

Gray mold is caused by the invasion of Botrytis cinerea, especially in rainy seasons in the south. It mainly damages leaves, fruits and stems, producing gray irregular patches on the leaves and eventually causing blight. Gray patches will also occur on the fruit stem, making the fruit stem unable to grow normally and producing deformed fruit. Gray mold is the most serious disease of watermelon. When it is most serious, it can lead to all deformed watermelons in the whole field and cannot be sold. Edible wuyimycin aqueous solution and mildew-proof treasure wettable powder are sprayed once a week for about a month. Rotation at least 4 years, to use rich organic fertilizer.

5. Watermelon powdery mildew

Powdery mildew mainly occurs in autumn in the south, mainly damaging leaves, and generally has no effect on fruits. Many small white particles are produced on the leaves, which rob the leaves of nutrients, making the leaves unable to grow normally, resulting in blackening of the leaves. Powdery mildew is mainly caused by temperature, humidity and density, pay attention to watermelon temperature and humidity. Reasonable arrangement of drainage system and planting density in watermelon field, pay attention to drainage after rain, and fertilize mainly with organic fertilizer. Powdery mildew is mainly a prevention-oriented.

The above five kinds are several common diseases of watermelon, among which special attention should be paid to gray mold, because gray mold is difficult to control and control, if not treated in time, it will lead to no yield and no harvest. In fact, diseases are related to temperature, humidity and density. As long as they are reasonably controlled, the probability of disease will be much less.
