In the history of Zen, there is a well-known Zen master Jinji. He has a hobby, that is, growing orchids. In his abbot's Zen Yuan, people can see all kinds of orchids everywhere. Pilgrims and tourists came to the temple to listen to the Dharma ceremony and Buddha, and they could not help but marvel at the fragrance of orchids full of fragrance. As a result, the Zen master Jin Kui, who loves orchids, is called the "orchid monk".

One day, Zen Master Jinji was invited to give a lecture outside the temple. Before leaving, he called one of his disciples to him and said, "I will go to teach the Dharma and come back after dark. You must take good care of these orchids for me and remember to water them."

The disciple knew that the Zen master loved orchids, so he looked after them very carefully after he left, especially when watering the orchids. I am really afraid of ghosts. The more careful I am, the more mistakes I will make. He did not pay attention, stumbled at his feet, unexpectedly knocked down an orchid shelf, the whole orchid fell to the ground with a roar, tile pots were broken, flowers and leaves were scattered. Looking at the residual flowers and mud all over the place, the little monk was frightened and did not know what to do. When the other disciples of Zen Master Jinji saw this, they came to help him clean up and said to the disciple, "when Master comes back after dark, please admit your mistake. Master will not blame you."

In the evening, Zen Master Jinyi returned to the monastery, and his disciple reported to Master what had happened during the day. He thought that Master would be angry when he knew that his beloved thing had been destroyed, so he asked Master to punish himself. After hearing this, the Zen master Jinzu just smiled calmly and said, "since you didn't do it on purpose, and you know that it's not a good thing to destroy things, you will do things attentively in the future. Why should I blame you?" I do like orchids and regard orchids as friends. But my purpose of growing orchids is to provide fragrant flowers for Buddha, to beautify the monastery and the state of mind of the public, not to get angry and worry. Things are changeable and fleeting. Nothing is indestructible. How can I cling to the things I love and never give up? This is not our Zen family style!

After listening to the teachings of the Zen master, Huo ran realized and practiced more diligently, and finally made some achievements in Buddhism.

The Buddha said that all Dharma is like a dream bubble, such as dew and electricity. Everything in the world, whether we think it is beautiful or ugly, like it or not, has its birth and death and will not last forever. Therefore, we should not rigidly adhere to the appearance of things, but should be at ease with fate. This is not only the demeanor that a Zen person should have, but even ordinary people should know how to adapt to the changes of things and not let external things change the peace of the inner world.
