The utilization rate of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the three staple grains has increased significantly.

On December 2, the Ministry of Agriculture held a press briefing, at which Zeng Yande, director of the planting Management Department, revealed that according to scientific estimates, the fertilizer utilization rate of China's three major food crops, rice, corn and wheat, was 35.2 percent in 2015, an increase of 2.2 percentage points over 2013. The utilization rate of pesticides was 36.6 percent, 1.6 percentage points higher than in 2013.

The calculation shows that the utilization rate of chemical fertilizer is increased by 2.2%, the use of urea is reduced by 1 million tons, and the production input of farmers is reduced by about 1.8 billion yuan, which is equivalent to reducing nitrogen emissions by 478000 tons and saving 1 million tons of coal. The utilization rate of pesticides increased by 1.6%, the use of pesticides decreased by 15200 tons, and farmers reduced their production investment by about 800 million yuan, thus protecting the soil and water environment. The reduction of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is a comprehensive measure, especially the reduction of pesticides mostly adopts ecological control, biological control, physical control and other green prevention and control technologies, which is conducive to reducing pesticide residues and ensuring the quality and safety of agricultural products.

Since the beginning of this year, while firmly promoting the "Action of Zero growth of Chemical Fertilizer use by 2020" and "Action of Zero growth of Pesticide use by 2020", the Ministry of Agriculture has organized experts to calculate the utilization rate of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, formulate work plans for the calculation of the utilization rate of chemical fertilizers and pesticides respectively, clarify the methods and contents of the calculation, and organize national soil fertilizer and plant protection technology promotion departments. A large number of field tests and related data collection were carried out. At the same time, the mathematical model is established, the scientific calculation is carried out, the calculated results are compared with the monitoring data, and the experts are organized to demonstrate them fully. Experts agree that the calculation method is more scientific, and the calculation results are more in line with the reality.

In recent years, the reduction and efficiency of chemical fertilizers and pesticides have achieved a set of mature technical model and effective working mechanism, which is the basis for continuously improving the utilization rate of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. In the next step, the Ministry of Agriculture should step up efforts and strengthen measures to speed up the transformation of the mode of fertilization and drug use, and popularize the technologies of deep application of chemical fertilizer, mechanical topdressing, simultaneous sowing of seed and fertilizer, and integration of water and fertilizer according to local conditions. according to different crops and diseases and pests to promote the application of agricultural control, biological control, physical control and other green prevention and control technology to promote the integration of unified control and green prevention and control. We will speed up the promotion of new and efficient fertilizers and pesticides, focus on the research and development of new products such as high-efficiency slow-release fertilizers, high-efficiency, low-toxic and low-residue pesticides, biological fertilizers and pesticides, and actively promote advanced fertilizing and pesticide application machinery to speed up the replacement of backward machinery. Speed up the development of socialized service organizations and improve equipment conditions and service capabilities. We will actively explore effective ways for the government to purchase public welfare services, encourage social service organizations to participate in the action of zero growth in the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and provide scientific fertilization and pesticide application services on a larger scale.
