Melon, also known as cantaloupe, apple melon, etc., before there was a large area of wild quantity, but with the taste and value of melon was discovered after the growing market demand, there is a phenomenon that supply exceeds demand. So began a large number of artificial planting, the planting area is also more and more extensive. But the quality of melon is proportional to maturity, many friends do not know how to manage the ability to better improve the quality of melon. The following is a brief introduction to the field management methods of melons in spring.

1. Pruning and hanging vines

The method of single vine pruning is needed to grow muskmelon in spring, that is, the main vine is left to grow and develop, and all the lateral branches on the cotyledon nodes need to be removed from the plants with good growth, and no more than 4 lateral vines are needed. If the growth is relatively weak, you can appropriately increase the lateral vines on the cotyledon nodes to about 6, then remove all the rest, and pinch off the 2-3 leaves of the lateral vines, which can promote the nutrient absorption of the plant and enhance the growth.

2. Temperature management

Melon is a kind of temperature-loving fruit. The suitable temperature is about 25 degrees during the day and not lower than 15 or higher than 18 at night. If the temperature is higher than 35 degrees or lower than 10 degrees, it will have a great impact on the fruit setting and expansion of melons. So be sure to control the temperature around it. The lowest temperature at night can be about 10-12 degrees, and the large temperature difference between day and night can increase the sugar accumulation of the fruit.

3. Setting fruit and beating leaves

From 4 to 10:00 every morning, melons can be treated with high-yield agents mixed with water for hormone treatment and artificial pollination. After fruit setting, the growth and development of melons have gradually aged the lower leaves of melons. The intensity of photosynthesis has little effect or can not carry out photosynthesis. And will also affect the permeability between plants, so the lower part of the aging leaves should be removed in time, but need to pay attention to the time and quantity.

4. Leave melons and choose melons

The low node position of sitting melon will eventually make the small melon yield low, while the high node position will make the melon yield higher, but the sugar content lower. Therefore, the node position of the melon should be in the middle, usually between 10-15 leaves of the plant. When the young melon grows to the size of a walnut, choose one or two melons with better shape, remove the rest, increase the nutritional area of the fruit, and transport the substances produced by photosynthesis to the fruit nearby.

5. Water and fertilizer management

Melons generally need a lot of fertilizer and water. After about a week of slow seedling watering, melons begin to water according to the condition and growth of the soil. If the growth is weak, you can apply 10 jin of urea per mu, but it should not be watered when flowering, pollination and fruit setting, because it may cause excessive growth of stems and leaves and then lead to poor fruit setting. When applying fertilizer, we should pay attention to the mixing of various fertilizers of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and apply more foliar fertilizer to improve the yield and quality.

These are the management methods of melons. If you want to achieve high yield of melons, you must first control water, fertilizer and temperature. These conditions should not be careless. Because they all determine the fruit setting and pollination of melons, but also pay close attention to melon diseases and insect pests, all fruits are the same, diseases and insect pests will seriously harm their growth. Disinfect the orchard regularly and clean up the diseased branches, hoping to help everyone.
