Carambola is a fruit of origin in China, which is often exported to all parts of the world. It looks like a five-pointed star and is also known as star peach abroad. It helps digestion, cures skin diseases, and has good nourishing and health care functions. When planting, many fruit growers often use grafting to cultivate plants and increase income in order to improve plant disease resistance and yield. Let's take a look at the grafting method of carambola brought by the pro-agricultural network.

1. Select rootstocks

If you want to graft a good seedling. There should be a certain standard for the selection of rootstocks, which requires that the rootstock seedlings must be higher than 30cm, and the stem should be as thick as 0.7cm. In addition, when cultivating grafting rootstock seedlings, we must strengthen management, especially in the aspects of water and fertilizer, loose soil weeding, diseases and insect pests and pruning. After these processes, the rootstock seedlings grow neatly and evenly, and they are the first-class rootstock seedlings.

2. Select scion

Like the selection of rootstocks, the scion has its strict selection criteria, which are cut from the mother plants with good varieties, strong growth, high and stable yield and strong resistance to diseases and insect pests. And the scion branch cut should be the same year or one year, cut about 30-50cm from the rough 0.5cm branches in the sunny part of the crown, with green leaves and buds on the branches, which is conducive to the success of grafting. After cutting off the compound leaves and tender shoots in time, cut the long branches into two sections, and then wrap them with wet towels and place them in a cool place, preferably within 48, otherwise it will lead to grafting failure.

3. Grafting time

Carambola is a tropical and subtropical fruit with a mild climate. It grows continuously all the time except between winter and spring, so it can be grafted for a long time from late spring to late autumn. According to the experiment, in the environment of extremely high temperature in the south, the survival rate of grafting is the highest in 3-4, and during the period from May to October, the survival rate is between 70-80%. The grafting is to avoid sunny weather as far as possible, and it is best in the morning of overcast, rainy and sunny weather. while grafting at high temperature at noon, the survival rate is very low.

4. Grafting method

There are many grafting methods of carambola, but the most commonly used is single bud grafting. First prepare the tools used for grafting, and then cut off the 25cm of the rootstock seedlings from the ground, and then begin to cut ears. The specific method is that the base of the scion is facing outward, close to the index finger of the left hand, cut a 40-50 degree slope with about 1-2cm under the bud, remove the epidermis on the back of the cutting surface, and then cut the scion in a sprout dish filled with water. After that, the rootstock should be cut off smoothly, cut down vertically with a knife, and cut into a 40-50 degree cut like the scion. Then the scion and the incision are closely connected, and then tightly wrapped with plastic film, so that the grafting is done. Check in time after grafting, and find that grafting failure should be repaired in time. When grafting begins to sprout successfully, the film should be punctured in time to let the bud protrude and grow.

The above is the carambola grafting technology brought by the pro-agricultural network, so much for the introduction of the grafting content of carambola. If you want to know more, please pay attention to the pro-agricultural network.
