Papaya belongs to the genus Rosaceae shrubs or small trees, it is rich in nutrients, although the taste of papaya is more sour, less sugar, should not be eaten raw. But it contains more tannins and organic acids, rich in vitamins, has a very strong antioxidant capacity, can enhance the immunity of the human body. So how to raise seedlings of papaya before planting? Let's take a look at it with the editor.

1. Seedling site selection

Papaya is extremely intolerant to cold during the seedling period, afraid of low temperature, frost and stagnant water, so when choosing a seedling site, we should choose a place with high topography, sufficient sun pass and good drainage and irrigation system to raise seedlings. But also to prevent papaya ring spot mosaic disease, so seedlings should choose new soil or away from the old papaya garden. If there is a melon garden of Cucurbitaceae nearby, it is necessary to keep a certain distance from it. The nutrition bag for raising seedlings is generally about 10cm in diameter and high in 16cm, and then there are not a few small holes about 1cm in the bag to facilitate drainage. Fully mature farm manure should be applied as base fertilizer at the bottom of the bag.

2. Seed treatment

When selecting seeds, you should choose disease-free and harmless seeds, or sterilize the seeds with methyl topiramate solution before raising seedlings. Soak it out for 20 minutes and rinse it with water, then soak it with baking soda solution for about five hours, and soak it with clean water for 20 hours. Generally, the suitable temperature for germination is about 35 pairs. as long as you see the seed coat crack and see white, you can start sowing. Seed disinfection can effectively remove the potential bacteria inside the seed and improve the germination rate.

3. Seedbed management

Before sowing, we should thoroughly pour all the seedling mud with water, then sow 2-3 seeds per cup, and cover them with a layer of fine soil after sowing, preferably just enough to cover the seeds. After sowing, we need to sprinkle water to cover the film, and the temperature of the seeds is relatively high when raising seedlings. We need to control the temperature at about 35 degrees, and when the seedlings are arched, the temperature will be reduced to about 25 degrees. Then set up a small arch shed for the seedlings in time, which is the most suitable for sowing in the south from October to November every year, and the seedling period is about 4 months. Seeds can be sown all year round in Hainan.

4. Seedling stage management

If sowing in autumn, then autumn sowing seedlings must be planted from winter to next spring, so autumn sowing seedlings should timely control the temperature and humidity as well as the management of fertilizer and water. The temperature of the growth of papaya can not be lower than 5 degrees, higher than 35 degrees, so we must pay attention to cover the seedlings of papaya in winter. Keep the soil moist at all times after sowing, but the amount of water can be reduced properly after the seedlings have grown a few leaves. To prevent the excessive growth of plants and the occurrence of diseases and insect pests, about 4 leaves can start to apply thin fertilizer, about once every 10 days.

The above is a brief introduction to the management methods of the seedling stage of papaya, which is a very important key factor in planting papaya. The quality of the seedling stage determines the quality and quality of papaya in the later stage, so we must make adequate preparations in the seedling stage of papaya when planting. The seedling stage can also effectively reduce the incidence of diseases and insect pests in the later stage. Today, this is the end of the introduction of the seedling management methods of papaya.
