The reporter learned from the office of the State Flood Control and drought Relief headquarters on the 4th that since late July, precipitation has been ushered in many times in the arid areas of Northeast China, Huang Huaihai, and Yunnan, and the drought situation across the country has obviously alleviated.

It is understood that since late July, precipitation has occurred many times in the western and southern parts of Northeast China and the Huang-Huai-Hai region, with a cumulative precipitation of 50 to 100 millimeters and 100 to 250 millimeters in some areas. Under the influence of precipitation, the drought in Hebei and Shaanxi provinces was basically relieved, and the drought in Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia and other provinces (regions) which were seriously affected by drought in the previous period was significantly alleviated. Recently, the precipitation in Yunnan Province has also increased significantly, and the agricultural drought has basically been relieved.

As of August 4, there were 24 million mu of arable land affected by drought (an average of 100 million mu in the same period of many years), with 1.22 million people and 2.09 million head of large livestock due to drought and drinking water difficulties (an average of 8.06 million people and 6.2 million head in the same period of many years). Mainly concentrated in Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Shanxi, Liaoning and other places.

According to the statistics of the State General Administration of Prevention and Control, as of August 4, 48.08 million people across the country had suffered from floods, with 198 dead and 51 missing. the number of deaths from flood disasters was the lowest in the same period in history, but the direct economic losses were 17% higher.
