Grapefruit is a common fruit in China. Because of its strong resistance, grapefruit is widely planted in China, but it is planted most frequently in the south of the Yangtze River. Now there are many varieties of grapefruit, such as orange red, Shatian pomelo, Wendan, Pingshan pomelo, Jinxiang pomelo, red pomelo and so on. So what problems should be paid attention to when growing grapefruit? Next, let's take a look at the points for attention in growing grapefruit.

1. Time

Although the resistance of grapefruit trees is strong, in many areas, grapefruit trees are actually planted all the year round, but the survival rate will be greatly reduced. Well, when planting grapefruit, we need to grasp the best time to plant, usually from September to November, and every spring, February and March. In these two periods, the reproductive ability of pomelo is strong, the root system grows faster after planting, and the survival rate can be as high as 90%.

2. Temperature

The temperature of planting grapefruit trees is also a very important planting condition. If the temperature is too high or too low when planting, it will have a great impact on the survival rate and growth of grapefruit trees. The temperature suitable for the growth of pomelo trees is 17 to 18 degrees, which is the best temperature for grapefruit trees to grow, and the highest temperature for planting can not be higher than 40 degrees, that is to say, it can also grow under other temperature conditions, but the growth rate slows down.

3. Density

The planting density will affect the growth trend of grapefruit, as well as the yield and quality of grapefruit in the later stage. When we are planting, we need to reasonably control the planting density and achieve the best planting benefit in the case of making full use of land resources. Generally speaking, it can plant about 55 to 60 trees per mu, and the distance between each row is about four meters, and the distance between each grapefruit tree is about three meters.

4. Water and fertilizer

Suitable and watering are special points to pay attention to when planting grapefruit trees. When planting, we need to wet the soil, which can improve the survival rate, followed by after planting, if we encounter drought, then we need to irrigate reasonably according to the water demand of grapefruit trees. However, if continuous rainfall, can not be ignored, but also need timely drainage, otherwise it will affect the fruit of grapefruit. When planting, it is necessary to re-apply base fertilizer, and the timely topdressing after planting is mainly farm manure, which can be applied once a month. Wait until half a year later, it is necessary to appropriately increase the amount of fertilizer to ensure that the plant growth is more robust.

5. Pruning

Pruning the growth process of grapefruit is a problem that many people ignore. In fact, the growth of grapefruit needs sufficient light, otherwise it is very difficult for grapefruit to grow up and to precipitate sugar. Young tree pruning is to promote the growth of main branches, while adult tree pruning is to increase production and improve quality. Pruning is based on the principle of pruning old branches, withered branches, diseased branches, insect branches, weak branches, dense branches, and retaining strong branches.

Here, the editor would also like to remind everyone to pay attention to one thing, that is, thinning flowers during flowering and fruit thinning in time after fruit setting. If there is no flower thinning and fruit thinning, the physiological fruit drop will be very serious, which has a direct impact on the yield of grapefruit.
