Sugarcane in China is mainly produced in Fujian, Guangdong, Taiwan and Sichuan. Sugarcane is not only a common fruit, but also a raw material for making sucrose, and it can also be used to extract ethanol, so sugarcane has a high use value. So when planting sugarcane, it is necessary to carry out sugarcane seed treatment, and sugarcane seeds are all planted with sugarcane, so how should we deal with it in order to ensure the quality of sugarcane seeds? Let's take a look at it.

1. Sugarcane species selection

Sugarcane seed selection is not in one step, it needs to go through four processes to select the best seed stem, namely, field block selection, harvest plant selection, chopping time selection and bud selection. First of all, we choose the sugarcane in the field that grows well to keep the seeds; then we wait until the time of harvest to select the sugarcane that is disease-free, resistant and of good quality; then we select the cane with thick stems and full buds, and check whether there is any mechanical injury in the cane; finally, when planting, check the sprouting of the sugarcane seed, and select the seed reasonably according to the requirements of planting.

2. Chopping sugarcane seeds

The main purpose of sugarcane chopping is to ensure the quality of sugarcane seeds, so we need to peel off the leaf sheath before chopping the seeds. The blade of the chopping should be thin, do not hesitate when chopping, so that the knife is fast and accurate, and the incision is flat. Secondly, the lower part of the seedling should be a little longer, which can be chopped into single bud, double bud, three buds or multiple buds and so on. Among them, double-bud sugarcane is the most commonly used in production, because its budding rate and yield are very good.

3. Soaking sugarcane seeds

After the sugarcane seed is chopped, we need to carry on the sugarcane seed treatment. First of all, we should dry the seeds to reduce part of the moisture of the sugarcane seeds, and then soak the seeds with clear water or lime water, which can promote the absorption of water and seed soaking agents. Soak the seeds in clear water for 24 to 48 hours, while soak the seeds in lime water for only 12 to 24 hours. Finally, it can also be soaked in carbendazim or other agents for about 10 minutes and then removed, which can prevent pineapple disease. If we want to prevent ratoon dwarf disease, we can soak the seeds in warm water, and the effect is excellent.

4. Sprouting of sugarcane species

In order to promote the germination speed of sugarcane species, we usually carry out artificial germination, especially in the case of low temperature in winter and spring, the speed of sugarcane sprouting is very slow, so we must rely on the method of artificial germination. The most common way is to promote germination by composting and covering with plastic film. These two commonly used methods of budding are carried out by using the principles of heat preservation and moisturizing, so that sprouting does not affect the quality of sugarcane seeds, of course, we should pay attention to the need to dig out the sugarcane seeds in time after a certain period of time.

The above is the simple treatment of sugarcane species that the editor is going to introduce to you today. although it looks very simple, it actually has a certain degree of technical difficulty, which is why there are so many seeds left and why there will be fewer planting in the end. If you want to know about the planting technology of sugarcane, remember to leave a message for the editor.
