Dendrobium is a valuable species of tropical orchids, which is famous for its various flowers and bright colors. It is one of the largest genera in Orchidaceae, with more than 1000 native species. The flowering period of Dendrobium is from January to June, which is as long as half a year, so it is very important to manage it during flowering.

Temperature control Dendrobium is native to the Pacific tropical circle, likes the warm environment with large temperature difference between day and night, and avoids direct sunlight. Therefore, it should be placed in a semi-shady greenhouse in winter, with a temperature of 13 ℃ to 15 ℃ at night and 18 ℃ to 20 ℃ during the day to promote flower bud differentiation. If the lowest temperature is below 5 ℃, it will not only affect flowering, but also cause leaves to fall off one after another.

Maintain humidity Dendrobium likes a humid environment and has poor drought resistance. It is necessary to spray water around the plant frequently to maintain a high air humidity of 60% to 70%. If the humidity is not enough, the leaves are easy to turn yellow and wrinkle, which directly affects flowering.

After timely fertilization into winter, Dendrobium should apply less fertilizer, and it is appropriate to apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer and appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer to promote flowering. However, after the bud appears, fertilizer should be stopped. Starting from May, restore the application of rotten thin cake fertilizer and water every two weeks to promote growth.

Ventilated Dendrobium requires high permeability of the plant, its medium should be breathable bark, charcoal, broken bricks and so on, and maintain indoor air circulation.

Dendrobium is easy to be harmed by red spiders, which can be controlled with 1000 times of dicofol or 1200 times of dimethoate every other week, 2 to 3 times.
