It is well known that most plants reproduce through seeds, and some special plants propagate in other ways, while the familiar fruit banana in China has no seeds, so it is impossible to sow and reproduce. So how do bananas reproduce? Let's take a look at the detailed introduction.

1. Sucking buds for propagation

Sucking bud propagation is a more traditional propagation method of banana planting, which mainly uses banana sword bud and jacket bud to propagate. The sword bud generally grew in November last year, exposed to the ground after the climate warming of the Beginning of Spring, and showed red color. It is usually dug up and planted in March-May in spring. On the other hand, the jacket buds generally grow in August-October in autumn, will temporarily wither in the time of drought and low temperature, and are usually dug out and planted in February-March in spring.

2. Tuber propagation

Tuber propagation is generally used to cultivate a large number of buds in production. The unflowered plants or large sucking shoots are cut into small pieces of uniform size, requiring 1-2 bud holes on each piece. After cutting, the wound will be smeared with plant ash, placed in a cool place to dry, and then on the seedling ground according to the row spacing of 15 cm flat on the border surface, the bud eyes upward, cover the soil and cover the grass. Generally planted from November to December, it can sprout from January to February in the following spring, and can be dug out and planted when it grows to 40-50 cm in May-June.

3. Ramet propagation

Ramet propagation is also propagated with sucking buds, which can be reserved as the next generation of mother plants or seedlings when the sucking buds grow to more than 40 centimeters. Ramet is to dig up the soil next to the sucking bud, separate it from the mother plant with tools, cut off the overlong and damaged roots, smear the plant ash and leave it in the shade to dry, and then plant it.

4. Tissue culture

It is generally used to cultivate disease-free seedlings and a large number of seedlings, but it is widely used in production at present. It adopts tissue culture and rapid propagation technology, which can not only move a large number of seedlings in a short time, but also remove diseases such as mosaic disease, which can obviously improve the yield.
