Culture method of lotus petal orchid

Lotus petal orchid is a highly adaptable orchid variety, and the breeding method of lotus petal orchid is not particularly difficult. Like the traditional spring orchid, lotus petal orchid stops growing in winter and enters a dormant period. In western Yunnan, the orchid no longer grows from mid-November to the end of February of the following year, and is in the stage of accumulating strength to prepare energy for flowering and sprouting, which is called the dormant period.

The planting and management of lotus petal orchids (including other orchids) in Yuexiang Hall is similar to that of orchids. The balcony is made of black plastic pots. The planting material is like this: fairy soil + pond foundation soil + bark + leaves + a small amount of red sand soil. The basin is first covered with water moss, and then covered with plastic film, which is mainly due to the high-rise floor, the wind is fast, dry, and the upper layer of the basin soil is easy to dry. There is only less trouble in watering, not too much, because the water and air permeability of the plant material is very good, and all flowerpots mostly use the way of hanging, spraying fertilizer regularly (once a month), and there is a plate holding water at the bottom of the hanging pot. on the one hand, it is conducive to the environmental hygiene of watering, on the other hand, it is conducive to increasing humidity.

In the open-air part of the orchid shed, fewer seedlings use black plastic pots, and more seedlings use black soil pots or larger purple sand basins. The plant materials are the same as those used in the balcony part, but red sand is used more (for water conservation). All the year round, never cover (unsealed), let the rain rain, in the dry season, sprinkle with tap water every week, spray once a month (three drugs are changed), and spray fertilizer two or three times in the growing season.

Whether it is a balcony or an open-air orchid shed, due to sufficient sunshine, adequate ventilation, regular fertilization and pesticide application, and managed according to the plant materials and environment used, all kinds of orchids, including lotus petal orchids, grow very well and normally sprout and blossom. Like the three Songmei introduced from Zhejiang this year, they have sent four seedlings and a key of strong bud, which is really gratifying.
