Citrus is the fruit promoted in our life. Many people also grow citrus themselves, especially in the south. If citrus planting wants high yield and good quality, it must do a good job of shooting. Do you know how to plant citrus? Let's get to know each other.

I. Shooting time

Citrus shoot time should be determined according to variety, age, tree vigor, fruit yield, irrigation conditions and orchard and environmental conditions. Regardless of age, tree vigor and fruit hanging quantity, farmers can start shooting in early August if only one batch of autumn shoots is released, and if two batches of autumn shoots are released, the first batch of shoots can be released in early July and the second batch of shoots can be released in summer in August. If shoots are placed in September, when the temperature is low, the shoots will not mature completely late, affecting the quality of citrus flowering and fruit bearing in the coming year.

II. Situations requiring early shoot

1. Dry land orchards should shoot ahead of time

Dryland orchards are often unfavorable for autumn shoot germination. If there are more fruits or weak tree vigor, autumn shoots will not be taken out. In severe cases, the tree body will turn yellow, affecting the yield of the current year and the results of the next year. Therefore, the shoot time should be advanced. The drought of jade surface leads to less accumulation of nutrients in the tree body, and the autumn shoots grow irregularly and weakly.

2. If there are many fruits, shoot them in advance

The large amount of fruit hanging is also easy to appear nutrient deficiency. Once the nutrient is insufficient, the growth of new shoots will be extremely weak, and the phenomenon of fruit cracking will easily occur. Therefore, attention should be paid to promoting shoot fertilizer in this period.

3. Early-maturing varieties should shoot ahead of time

Sugar orange, Wenzhou tangerine and other early-maturing varieties should shoot early, can promote autumn shoots in mid-July.

4. Extensive management should be put forward in advance

Extensive management orchards consume a lot of nutrients due to early fruit hanging and fruit expansion, and there is a problem of insufficient fertilizer and water. If nutrients are not supplemented in time, there will be problems such as no new buds and late autumn shoots, so shoot ahead of time.

5. The older the tree, the earlier it should shoot.

Citrus trees aged 7-8 years should be fertilized in advance to attack and defend autumn shoot growth. They should shoot at the end of July. Fruit trees aged 4-6 years should shoot in mid-August, while fruits hanging soon should shoot in late August. This is convenient to cooperate with fertilization, save costs, achieve strong fruit and promote shoots, and second, there is sufficient time for the tree to absorb.

6. The more north the region is, the more it should shoot ahead of time.

The temperature in the north is generally lower than that in the south, so the autumn shoots should be put about 5 days in advance in the area where the planting area moves northward. The autumn shoots are good in August. The late autumn shoots after September cannot reach the flowering conditions due to low temperature and insufficient light, which will seriously affect the yield of the coming year.
