Orchid frostbite: leaf, pseudobulb, air root and other tissues showed water-stained necrosis after freezing. But the general frostbite performance is orchid leaf frostbite, orchid gourd head and orchid root is very difficult to be frostbitten. Spring Cymbidium is also very freeze-resistant, there is no problem, Jian Lan and Mulan are varieties prone to frostbite! The most unacceptable aspect of frostbite is the recessive frostbite of orchid leaves. I have learned a profound lesson from my years of open balcony cultivation. The name "recessive frostbite" is not necessarily correct. It means that the internal tissue of the orchid leaves has been damaged by freezing in the cold winter, but it does not show on the leaves. When the weather begins to warm up, the sun begins to appear at the first sight. This kind of frostbite will be the biggest headache for Lanyou, and it will also cause the false impression that Lanyou thinks it is sunburn! The spring sun is not enough to hurt the orchid leaves, so sunburn is just an illusion, mainly because the internal tissue of the orchid leaves has been damaged.

This kind of recessive frostbite will appear quickly in the warmer sun within one or two days, and there will be obvious water spots on the back of the leaves, and black spots will also appear on the back of the leaves a few days later. If there is a possibility of frostbite in this aspect of bluegrass, please do not rush to see the sun, should be overcast. The cold winter of last year will certainly cause frostbite of orchids of many orchid friends, and it is best to postpone seeing the bright light at the beginning of spring this year.

Of course, for serious frostbite, the withered roots and fallen leaves can only be cut off immediately, stop watering and grow in the shade.

Although the frostbite of orchid leaves is not enough to endanger the life of orchids, it will seriously affect the overall beauty of orchids. The orchid friends planted on the balcony should postpone the time for the orchid to see the bright light, so that the recessive frostbite of the orchid leaves appears less or not.

The time to prevent frostbite of orchids may also have something to do with the time it takes to turn the pots. The pots I turned in December all had varying degrees of frostbite, while the pots that did not move the pots had no problem. So in theory, you can turn the pot all year round, but in fact, you still have to combine your own planting and breeding environment! Of course, the above situation is only my personal summary, not necessarily correct, only for Lanyou reference!
