Mulberry is a common fruit in China, and its planting area is also relatively large. When we plant mulberry trees, its management is very important. It includes various basic management such as pruning, watering and fertilization. Among them, when we fertilize mulberry, there are several different forms of fertilization. So what are the specific ones? The following editor will give you a brief introduction, let's have a look!

1. Characteristics of mulberry root system

When applying fertilizer to mulberry trees, we should pay attention to allowing fertilizer to reach the soil layer where mulberry roots are most widely distributed, so as to promote the absorption of fertilizer by mulberry roots. The root system of mulberry will be affected by tree age, planting density, planting variety, soil type and other factors. Therefore, according to these factors to determine the scope of fertilization. For example, if it is a short, dry and dense mulberry garden, then the roots of mulberry trees are generally distributed in the soil layer of 40cm, so there is no need for deep application. The forms of fertilization are divided into the following three types.

II. Forms of fertilization

1. Acupoint application

The first form of fertilization for mulberry trees becomes hole application. In the hole application, the first step is to dig the fertilizer hole about 30cm between the rows of mulberry trees and then apply fertilizer. Fertilizer is mainly chemical fertilizer and ancillary farm manure. If the volume of these fertilizers is not large, the depth of the application hole should be kept at about 20cm, and the length and width should be controlled at about 32cm. And if it is barnyard manure, pile retting manure, which is a relatively large volume of fertilizer, then the fertilizer application hole can be expanded appropriately. Young mulberry trees should not be fertilized too much, so the fertilizer hole can be smaller and shallower, and the soil should be covered in time after fertilization to improve the fertilizer efficiency.

2. Ditch method

Ditch application is to dig a fertilizer ditch between the rows of mulberry trees, which is usually suitable for large areas of closely planted mulberry orchards. If the planting is relatively dense, then you can dig trenches and fertilize directly in the middle of the row. If the planting is sparse, trenches should also be dug on the side around the 30cm of the trunk. The depth and width of fertilizer application ditch should also be controlled according to the type and amount of fertilization. Usually keep at about 25 centimeters, when digging trenches, you should pay attention not to hurt the roots as far as possible to avoid affecting the normal growth of mulberries. Ditch application method is suitable for the application of large volume of farm manure, but also pay attention to covering soil after fertilization.

3. Spread the method

Mulberry spreading is to spread fertilizer comprehensively and evenly on the mulberry planting soil. Then turn the fertilizer into the soil through ploughing and loosening the soil and other work. The suitable time for spreading should be in winter and summer, and then combined with winter ploughing and summer felling. Available fertilizers include large volumes of organic fertilizers and neutralization of soil acidity and alkalinity. It is suitable for use in mulberry orchards with short, dry and dense planting.

The above is a brief introduction to the fertilization forms and root characteristics of mulberry trees. That's all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only. I hope it can help you all.
