The Ministry of Agriculture organized the national veterinary laboratory examination and testing capacity.

August 12-13, the national veterinary laboratory assessment and testing capacity comparison meeting was held in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. The meeting comprehensively summarized the laboratory assessment and testing capability comparison work of the national veterinary system in the past five years, and fully affirmed the achievements made in the development of veterinary laboratories in recent years. this paper analyzes the existing problems, situation and tasks in the development of veterinary laboratories, and discusses the measures to promote the better development of veterinary laboratories.

The meeting pointed out that since 2004, the state has increased investment in the construction of veterinary laboratories, and the central, provincial, municipal and county governments have built or expanded veterinary laboratories to varying degrees. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture and local veterinary departments actively take effective measures to organize and carry out veterinary laboratory assessment and testing capacity comparison, constantly strengthen the construction of veterinary laboratory personnel and quality system, and strengthen biosafety supervision. The overall ability and level of veterinary laboratories have been greatly improved, which has made important contributions to the effective prevention and control of major animal diseases and zoonosis, and the protection of animal health and public health safety.

The meeting demanded that to do a good job in the management of veterinary laboratories under the current situation, first, it is necessary to do a good job in establishing rules and regulations for the management of veterinary experiments, carefully sort out the provisions of laws and regulations, revise them, and do a good job in top-level design. Second, it is necessary to further rationally design the functional positioning of all kinds of veterinary laboratories at all levels. Third, effective measures should be taken to further improve the capacity of veterinary laboratories. Fourth, it is necessary to integrate and utilize all kinds of veterinary laboratory resources to form an efficient laboratory network system. The meeting stressed that all localities should extensively publicize the biosafety of veterinary laboratories through various channels, enhance the biosafety awareness and protection level of relevant personnel, and urge all relevant veterinary laboratories to implement the responsibility system for laboratory biological safety, comprehensively investigate and control laboratory biosafety hidden dangers, improve veterinary laboratory management systems, and effectively ensure laboratory biosafety.

More than 70 people attended the meeting, including responsible comrades of veterinary departments and animal disease prevention and control centers of various provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government, and responsible comrades of the National Avian Influenza reference Laboratory and foot-and-mouth Disease reference Laboratory.
