Many orchids are not very experienced in the management of orchids in summer, and the climate pattern of high temperature and humidity in summer is the season when germs grow most rapidly. if you are not careful, the leaves of orchid grass will appear burning tips, black spots and patches. in serious cases, even soft rot, stem rot seedlings and weeds. Therefore, as soon as the novice Lanyou arrived in the summer, he panicked and was at a loss for fear of saying goodbye to his beloved bluegrass.

In fact, the hot summer is the most exuberant period for orchid growth. new seedlings unearthed in spring grow and thrive during this period, and the flower buds of orchid also differentiate and breed during this period. as long as it is managed properly, there is no need to worry about getting sick and falling grass. it can also accumulate energy for new buds and flower buds in autumn.

夏季兰花管理

Before talking about the summer management methods of bluegrass, let's talk about the habits of bluegrass. Bluegrass (national orchid) belongs to the genus Orchidaceae, which is born in the shrubs of Chongshan and wild mountains, likes soft sunshine and hates direct sunlight. I like a dry and ventilated environment, and I'm afraid of humid and muggy places. Although bluegrass is afraid of muggy heat, it is not afraid of high temperature, because high temperature can induce the leaves of bluegrass to thicken, enhance the toughness of bluegrass growth, and then improve the adaptability of bluegrass to the environment. Yilan elders in ancient times and old orchid people in Jiangsu and Zhejiang often practice grass in three volts in summer, that is, they are well aware of this habit of bluegrass. The hot summer keeps the orchid grass slightly dry, which can not only prevent the soft rot caused by high temperature and humidity, but also promote the flower bud differentiation of the orchid grass and form the flower bud in autumn.

Based on years of experience with dill, my personal management of bluegrass in summer is nothing more than the following points:

1. Improve the ventilation of the orchid room: open all the windows in the orchid room to fully convect the air, and start all the ventilation fans. The upper fan of the orchid room is set to exhaust the hot air, and the fan of the lower floor is set to supply air to draw cool air into the orchid room, so that the air in the orchid room is fully convective, so that even if the temperature in the orchid room is higher than 35 ℃ ~ 40 ℃, there is no need to worry about grass dumping.

2. Keep the orchid room dry: many novice orchid friends often spray water or use wet equipment on the orchid leaves in summer because they are worried about the high temperature in summer, so as to increase the relative humidity of the orchid house in order to achieve the effect of cooling. Love is enough to harm it, resulting in black spots on orchid leaves or even soft rot. Although the temperature is high and the humidity is relatively higher than other seasons in summer, if the relative humidity of the orchid house is increased at this time, the high temperature and humidity will make the orchid house a place for rapid growth of germs. In the case of imperfect air convection, because of transpiration, bluegrass is easy to die. And I think that the humidity needed by bluegrass is not necessarily the relative humidity in the environment, but should be the absolute humidity in the orchid pot where the orchid grows. Therefore, keeping the orchid room or orchid place dry is absolutely the most important key to helping the orchid grass to be overheated in summer.

3. Strictly control the watering time: summer is the period of bluegrass growth and rejuvenation and flower bud differentiation. During this period, the watering time of bluegrass should be strictly controlled. It is not a good time for watering when the daytime temperature is too high and the plant material is not dry. Personally, I think that summer watering should be carried out when the temperature is slightly lower at night, because bluegrass enters a dormant state when the temperature is higher than 30 ℃. At this time, bluegrass can not be absorbed, but will be waterlogged in the orchid basin, resulting in orchid root ulceration, resulting in empty roots, and it is easy to cause soft rot to pour grass, leading to irreparable regret. In addition, strict water control in summer keeps the orchid pot a little dry, which can induce bluegrass to have a sense of crisis and then promote flower bud differentiation. Therefore, strict control of water supply and watering time is also an important issue in summer bluegrass management.
