In the process of orchid winter management, light is a very important link, everything depends on the sun orchid growth is no exception, orchid sprouting strong, winter light is very important, the Central Plains region enters late autumn every November, this season, most plants have stopped growing into the dormancy period, orchids are no exception.

In fact, the blue bud has already been formed in the autumn every year, and it takes a winter's gestation to break out of the ground in spring.

In winter, on the surface, the orchid has stopped growing and entered the dormant period, but in fact, subtle changes have taken place in the interior of the orchid basin, bud points and false scale balls are constantly expanding, and the root of the orchid is also growing slowly. At this time, we should not only let the orchid leaves receive full light, but also accept the direct sunlight of the orchid basin. Only in this way can we increase the temperature in the basin, promote light and function, and let blue buds and false scale balls accumulate more nutrients and thrive.

In this way, after a winter's gestation, the orchid bud has made full preparations for the unearthed in spring. Once it enters the spring, it will sprout not only early, but also easily grow strong seedlings.

It is not a problem to produce two generations of strong seedlings a year under the natural conditions in the Central Plains. Because there is a wall more than 2 meters high to the south of my orchid house, in winter, due to the oblique sunlight, some orchids in the south can not see the sun, so every year from November to April, I change the orchid rack in the north into a ladder, so that the orchid basin can fully accept the direct sunlight. I have done a test. See the difference in temperature between the light basin and the invisible basin during the day by 3 to 5 degrees. As it is a glass room, I see that the sun room is heating up very quickly, so I open a small part of the window no matter during the day and night, as long as the lowest temperature is not less than 0 degrees Celsius, so that I can not only keep the ventilation, but also control the temperature not to rise too high during the day. the temperature at night can come down and widen the temperature difference.

In this way, after full vernalization and direct sunlight, the orchid lays a good foundation for the growth of the next year.

In short, I think whether orchids live or not depends on summer management, and whether orchids are strong or not depends on winter management. We should make full use of what nature gives us.
