Song Mei, also known as Song Jinmei, the traditional inscription of Chinese orchids, is the representative variety of plum petals. Spring orchid is the first choice. The flower was selected by Song Jinxuan in Shaoxing during the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1736-1795). The flower was named after the surname of Song Jinxuan and the plum petal of the flower. The flower shape is dignified and generous, which is listed as the first of the four famous species of Chunlan. Songmei and Chunlan Dragon are called "National Orchid Shuangbi". Song plum leaves arched, leaf length is generally 25cm-30cm, leaf width 0.5cm-1.5cm, leaf tail obtuse tip. According to the leaf shape, some people in the orchid divide "Songmei" into "long leaf Songmei", "short leaf Songmei", "Li Ye Songmei", "Ring Ye Songmei", "wide Ye Songmei", "Fine Leaf Songmei" and so on. in fact, these "changes" are only caused by external factors such as planting and breeding management and environment, and cannot be called "variation". At present, the real natural "budding" of "Song Mei" is only one example of "Song Mei in Phnom Penh" in Chen Xuexiang's nursery. Through "directional cultivation", all the way "Phnom Penh" has been very stable, but there are no flowers yet, and it is not known whether there are any changes in flower art. The author has also introduced all kinds of leaf-shaped "Songmei" mentioned above, including leaves nearly 50 centimeters long, some leaves relatively erect, and some leaves more than 1.5 centimeters wide. however, these different sources of "Songmei" are becoming more and more consistent under the same planting conditions, and it is believed that they will not be able to make a difference after planting for another year or two. Although the different leaf shape changes of "Songmei" can not be seen as "variant" varieties, they can let us know its origin and the original planting conditions and methods, which can be used to guide our purchase intention. Through the observation of these different leaf shapes "Song Mei", we can find that no matter how the leaf shape changes, its basic characteristics will not change.

1) the leaf posture of "Song Mei": the leaf posture of "Song Mei" is generally a typical bow drooping type, and there is also a relatively upright semi-sagging type, but no matter it is sagging or semi-sagging, its Radian is very soft and strong, and there is no sense of rigidity or weakness.

2) Leaf length and leaf width of "Songmei": the leaf length of "Songmei" is generally about 30 cm, but the leaf length varies with the strength of the grass. 3) the leaf quality and leaf quality of "Songmei": the leaf quality of "Songmei" is fine and waxy, the thickness is moderate, and the leaf is rigid and flexible, but it should be noted that the leaf quality of "Songmei" caused by natural planting and greenhouse will change to a certain extent.

4) the leaf color and luster of "Songmei": the leaf color of "Songmei" is generally dark green, and the leaf surface gloss is very strong. however, in addition to its variety characteristics, the leaf color of "Songmei" is also related to the difference of leaf structure and chlorophyll content caused by planting and cultivation methods and environmental light. therefore, the depth of the leaf color of "Songmei" can not be used as the standard for determining the variety.

5) the petiole, leaf tip, leaf surface and other details of "Songmei": the petiole of "Songmei" is tight, the leaf width is medium wide, the leaf tip is blunt, the leaf surface is dragon, and the bottom leaf is boat-shaped.

6) "Songmei" overall plant type: "Songmei" from the overall plant type, each plant leaves neatly arranged, or high or bottom drooping, round Radian, elegant charm.

There are more than a dozen pots of Songmei, which have blossomed many times. The tongue of Songmei is changeable. Sometimes there are red spots on the tongue in the same basin, and sometimes it is white. I have also seen one white tongue with red spots in the same pot, which is related to the environment, sunshine and so on.
