Extracted from "appreciation of famous Chinese Cymbidium products" (edited by Xu Dongsheng) Phenology is the relationship between biological periodic phenomena and climate. Understanding the phenological phase can make it easier for me to take advantage of the situation and use it for me. In this paper, the periodic phenomena of Cymbidium, such as leaf bud tillering stage, unearthed stage, diapause stage, flower primordium formation stage, leaf bud elongation and leaf expansion stage, maturity stage, dormancy period, flower bud unearthing stage, flower bud vernalization stage, flower bud extension stage, flowering stage and fruit maturity stage, are described one by one as follows. The following phenological periods are not fixed. It is often ahead and wrong due to different ecological conditions. (1) the tillering stage of leaf buds when the spring temperature rises in late February, leaf buds begin to tiller. After about a month of development, equivalent to the size of beans, it is suspended to make reproductive growth active, and flower buds elongate and blossom. Therefore, when we buy seedlings with flowers, we can often see leaflet buds on the plant base. (2) the development and elongation of leaf buds at the unearthed stage, revealing the basal surface, usually 7-10 days after the flower withered. Usually from early to late May, if you do not plan to enjoy the flowers, when the flower buds are exposed to the basal surface, they will be removed so that the tillering and elongation of the leaf buds can be advanced. (3) during the diapause period, the leaf buds exposed the basal surface and elongated to about 3 cm, then suspended elongation. Turn people to grow roots, so as to make reproductive growth active and form flower primordia. This diapause period takes about 3-4 weeks. (4) in the period of leaf bud elongation, the leaf bud elongation and leaf expansion is mostly in July after the diapause root in June. (5) the mature period of new leaves, because the flowering period of Cymbidium is from spring to early summer, the leaf buds appear late, and the leaves begin to elongate and spread only in July, and there are only three months of vigorous growth. In September, the inland winter monsoon forms, the temperature drops day by day, and the plants slow down their active growth and go into dormancy. Therefore, most of the new plants could not mature in that year and continued to grow and develop after the temperature rose in the next year. In some low temperature areas, the leaf buds appeared later, the effective growth period was shorter, and they could not mature in the next year, and they could not mature until the third year. (VI) the dormant period depends on the local temperature. Usually when the temperature is below 16 ℃, vegetative growth greatly slows down dormancy. Usually in November. (7) the flower buds of Cymbidium are usually unearthed from September to October. It is also slightly ahead or wrong because of the local temperature. (8) after the flower bud protrudes from the basal surface of the cymbidium during vernalization, the flower bud stops elongating after elongating to 2-3 cm, which lasts for nearly 5 months until about 1-2 weeks before flowering. This "5 months long" is its dormancy period, in which the natural temperature from December of that year to January of the following year is the lowest month of the year, and the first stage of pregnant bud development is completed under the condition of low temperature of less than 10 ℃ and 5-8 ℃. (9) the rapid flower bud elongation period of Huilan flower bud is 1-2 weeks before flowering, and most of them are in mid-late March. (10) the flowering period of Huilan is mostly from the end of March to early April, and some late flowering varieties bloom in early May. (11) the capsule of Cymbidium in the fruit ripening stage takes about 1.5 years to mature, about October to November of the following year. The fruit yellowed and matured. If you want to use its seeds to propagate, it should be harvested in time so as not to crack the capsule and spread the seeds with the wind.
