The main crops in China are wheat, corn, rice, soybeans, peanuts, sorghum, potatoes and millet, and topdressing is the fertilizer used in the growing period of these crops, which should be carried out in the vigorous growing period, when the fertilizer effect is the best. So when is the best topdressing period for them? For more information, please see below.

1. Soybean

Soybean is a crop that needs more nitrogen fertilizer. Topdressing nitrogen fertilizer once at the early flowering stage can reduce the rate of flower and fruit drop, prolong plant life, increase grain weight and increase yield. Generally, ammonium nitrate 10~15kg or urea 10kg is applied every 667m2.

2. Peanuts

About 15 days after emergence, the flower buds began to differentiate and root nodules began to form. When two pairs of lateral branches appeared in the plant, nitrogen fertilizer should be applied once in time, and ammonium bicarbonate 10kg or urea 8kg should be applied every 667m2.

3. Potatoes

Generally, topdressing can be applied before flowering. Topdressing is better for early-maturing varieties at seedling stage, and for middle and late-maturing varieties before budding. Ammonium bicarbonate 13~15kg or urea 10kg is applied every 667m2.

4. Millet

6kg urea was applied in combination with irrigation or rainfall from booting to heading stage, and 150g / 250g potassium dihydrogen phosphate was sprayed every 667 square meters at heading and filling stage.

5. Sorghum

The first fertilizer was applied at jointing stage, ammonium nitrate 10~15kg or urea was applied at 8kg / 667m2, and the second fertilizer was applied at booting stage with ammonium bicarbonate 10kg or urea 5kg per 667m2.

6. Wheat

Topdressing wheat should be topdressing 13~18kg ammonium nitrate or 9~12kg urea once every 667m2, topdressing outside root once at heading and flowering stage, spraying water 20kg with 120g potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 30 alkyl alcohol solution 1.5mg, or spraying water 30kg with 160g potassium dihydrogen phosphate per 667m2.

7. Corn

The peak period of nutrition absorption is from jointing to trumpet mouth stage of maize, the first fertilizer is applied before and after jointing, ammonium nitrate 10kg or urea 7kg per 667m2; the second fertilizer is applied 7-10 days before heading, ammonium bicarbonate 20kg or urea 10kg per 667m2; if the base fertilizer is sufficient and the soil is very fertile, only once topdressing can be concentrated and once combined with ploughing and weeding.

8. Rice

The absorption of nitrogen fertilizer by rice began to increase gradually after turning green, and reached the peak at the peak tillering stage. In order to promote early growth and rapid development of rice and early tillering, tiller fertilizer should be applied early and re-applied. Ammonium nitrate 1.5kg and urea 7kg can be applied every 667m ~ 2 7-10 days after transplanting.
