Recently, vegetable farmers in southern Shandong, northern Anhui, Weinan, Jinzhong and other places used the hotline to consult the sowing methods of different cultivation methods of potato in early spring. In this regard, the author wrote this article as an answer to many vegetable farmers who consulted potato spring sowing technology in the above-mentioned areas.

You can choose sunny and windy weather to sow seeds within 4 hours before and 4 hours after noon. There are many kinds of sowing methods in different areas. the common sowing methods are flat sowing, hole sowing, ridge sowing, ridging after flat sowing, furrow sowing before ridging and so on.

Flat sowing method

There are two methods of flat sowing: ① opens trenches with a depth of 8-10 cm according to the planned row spacing, places potato pieces in the trench according to the planned plant spacing, and then covers the trenched soil into the ditch to level the ground; ② uses ploughing to open the trench, placing the potato pieces 8-10 cm above the ground on the half slope of the ditch, covering the soil with ploughs and sowing one row every 3 or 2 ploughs. After sowing, turn the soil over and rake the ground flat.

Hole sowing method

According to the distance between the rows and plants, the depth of the hole is 8-10 cm, sow 1 or 2 pieces of each hole, open the first hole of the second hole and the second hole of the third hole, and proceed in turn. Level the ground after sowing to help preserve soil moisture. This method is often used to sow seeds on slopes in alpine and hilly areas in one season. When sowing and opening holes, it can be combined with concentrated application of fertilizer.

Ridge sowing law

The ridge sowing method is also called ridge sowing. According to the plan, the rows and plants are ridged, and then ditched and sowed on the ridge. after sowing, the soil cover is suppressed and the soil moisture is conserved. the sown potato is above the ground level, and the ridge sowing method is commonly used in rainy and waterlogging areas. Waterlogging can drain, tuber is not flooded, watering does not spread the ridge, it can keep the soil loose on the ridge, which is beneficial to the expansion of tuber. If the plastic film is covered after sowing, the thickness of the soil above the potato block should be up to 15-18 cm.

Law of ridging after flat sowing

Level the ground, make a rope print according to the planned plant spacing, and then put the potato pieces on the rope print according to the planned plant spacing. After placement, the soil on both sides of the rope print is covered into ridges, suppressed and preserved. The potato block is sown on the surface, and the cover soil thickness from the potato block to the ridge ridge is 8-10 cm. Similar to the ridge sowing law, this method is suitable for places with more Rain Water and more soil moisture.

The method of ridging after trenching and sowing

100 cm 1 ridge, two rows per ridge, after leveling, rope printing is made according to wide and narrow rows, 25 cm narrow rows and 75 cm wide rows. The soil from the trench is placed in the middle of the narrow rows, forming a ridge back shape, and the potato pieces are placed at the planned plant spacing and placed at the bottom of the ditch to the back of the ridge. Then cover the ditch edge with soil (wide row) into a wide ridge, suppress it with a vegetable rake, and then cut it.
