Medicinal chrysanthemum is a commonly used bulk medicinal material, which is used in medicine with the function of clearing liver and eyesight, soothing wind and clearing heat. In recent years, due to the influence of many factors, the gap of chrysanthemum in the market is large, and the price is on the rise. It is profitable to seize this favorable opportunity to develop planting. What kinds of medicinal chrysanthemums are there and how are they cultivated?

Species of medicinal chrysanthemum

Huai chrysanthemum in Henan, Boju and Chuju in Anhui and Hangzhou chrysanthemum in Zhejiang are famous medicinal chrysanthemum varieties in China, which are characterized by white tongue-shaped flowers in the outer layer. If the tongue-shaped flowers are yellow or red, the medicinal value is poor or can not be used medicinally. Hangzhou chrysanthemum and Gong chrysanthemum have mild medicinal properties, mainly for tea, and both for medicinal purposes. Chuju and Boju are mainly used for medicine, and can also be used for tea.

Planting techniques of Medicinal Chrysanthemum

1. Propagation methods Medicinal Chrysanthemum is often propagated by root division and cutting in production. 1. Small root division propagation: after entering winter every year, the root pockets of strong plants are selected and covered with compost or soil compost to keep warm through the winter. In February-March of the following year, the manure is removed and a thin human fecal urine is sprayed to promote the growth of sprouting shoots. In April, when the seedling height is 15 cm-25 cm, the roots are dug out, and new seedlings with many adventitious roots and strong seedlings are selected to be planted in the field. 2. Cuttage propagation: in April every year, the sturdy new branches growing in the roots are selected as cuttings, the top tips are removed, the segments of 12cm-15cm are cut, and the lower end is cut into a bevel, dipped in yellow pulp, and the cuttings are inserted into the soil 1barb 2 on the prepared seedbed, and the management is strengthened. When the cuttings grow new roots and two new leaves, they can be transplanted to the field.

Second, the transplanting land should choose the place with higher terrain, which is convenient for drainage, sunny shelter from the wind and fertile sandy loam. Two times of ploughing were carried out, and 2000 kg of mixed fertilizer such as stable fertilizer and turf ash were applied per mu as base fertilizer and raked flat for the border (100cm wide and 15cm high). From April to May, the holes were opened according to the row spacing of 40 cm, the depth of the hole was 5 cm, and the seedlings were planted in overcast and rainy days. 1-2 seedlings were planted in each hole and watered after planting.

Third, field management chrysanthemum likes fertilizer, in addition to applying base fertilizer, but also ploughing and topdressing for 3-4 times. For the first time, 1000 kg of dilute human feces and urine per mu was applied at the beginning of seedling growth after planting; the second time, 1500 kg-2000 kg of dilute manure was applied per mu at the beginning of branching; and the third time, before budding, 1000 kg of mixed fertilizer of stable manure, plant ash and calcium superphosphate (about 15 kg) per mu was applied around the rhizosphere and soil was cultivated after application. Before budding, 20% calcium superphosphate solution can also be used to spray foliar fertilizer for extra-root topdressing to increase flower yield. Timely topping is an important measure to increase yield of medicinal chrysanthemum. For the first time, the apical bud of the trunk is removed before transplanting, the second time when the plant grows 3-4 lateral branches 30 cm long, the terminal bud is removed, and the third time is carried out in front of Lesser Heat to promote multi-branching and lay a good foundation for more flowering in the future.
