With regard to watering orchids, it is a common word to see dry and wet.

Brother Jing literally understands it as follows: when the environment in the basin is dry (see dry), water thoroughly (see wet). I once thought that I had realized the true meaning of watering.

It's just that the orchids raised have been half dead, so it can be seen that the practice has temporarily given up commenting on whether I have learned the truth of raising orchids.

In the past, an old stubborn donkey Lanyou in Sichuan once said: when you see dry and wet, it should be dry and wet.

I didn't care about it at that time, but I just used to remember it.

In the past, in summer, static watering was a fixed period, usually once every three days, and the orchid grew well.

The climate has changed greatly this year, and as we enter the summer, Jingpo still insists on watering every three days, and the performance of orchids is uneven:

Most of the orchid leaves are scorched yellow and the withered tip is serious; a few large pots do not accumulate dampness and Yin qi does not dissipate; and the environment in a few basins is just right and growing gratifying.

The biggest risk of moisture accumulation is rot. In order to fight against corruption, Jingpo decided to lengthen the watering interval of the butterflies cultivated in large pots. The result was ideal, and the leaves changed from dry to oily.

This also subverts a misunderstanding in Jingpo's mind: if orchids want to be beautiful, the higher the humidity, the better.

In fact, it is not, dry and wet properly, orchids grow the most oily.

Let's talk about the lesson that orchid leaves are generally scorched yellow.

In previous years, the climate is normal, and most of the new buds have taken root in summer. Even if the temperature is very high and the orchid sprouts are supplied in time, the growth is normal.

This year, the climate is abnormal, the orchid bud grows late, and it enters the midsummer before taking root, which leads to the circulation imbalance in the whole orchid plant, the stagnation of new buds and the shabby seedling condition.

Thus it can be seen that if you look for it according to the clues, you will eventually get lost.

Because of the undead appearance of bluegrass, Jingpo decided to change the watering rhythm.

The initial method was to change the orchids that rely on the sun to water them once a day, which made me find another interesting phenomenon:

In similar weather, the first time it was watered once a day, the surface of the orchid basin turned white on the second day, and then on the second time, it was found that the basin was much wetter on the third day.

Why is there such an obvious difference in basin performance in the same weather and at the same time interval?

This gives Jingpo a new idea: when there is a relative lack of water in the orchid, there is a period of "binge drinking". When the "binge drinking" period is over, the water demand slows down and the drying time in the basin is longer.

This explains why orchid pots don't dry as fast as they used to after several days of saturation.

Under the guidance of this theory, I feel that if I persist in watering every day, the orchid will certainly change from too dry to too wet, and maybe it will be over this summer.

So I controlled the watering interval to 1-2-1-2-1.

After a few weeks like this, the number of new grass and new green increased significantly, and the growth rhythm gradually returned to the right track.

With all this talk, I just want to explain my personal views as follows:

Watering should not be confined to the time and season, dry and wet is the right solution.

As the ancients said: one by one, the way of culture and martial arts. In this relaxation, the yin and yang of orchid growth can be balanced.

The so-called balance of yin and yang, based on looking at the environment in the basin, there are no shortcuts!
