Desert soil (English name desert soil), also known as "desert soil", is not only a zonal soil developed in arid areas, but also a soil under temperate desert vegetation, including gray desert soil, gray brown desert soil, brown desert soil and so on. So, do you know where desert soil is distributed in our country? What is suitable for planting in desert soil?

Desert soil is widely distributed in tropical, subtropical and temperate desert areas. The total area of desert soil in the world is about 16.2 million square kilometers, accounting for about 11.7% of the global land area. It is mainly distributed in six regions: the Sahara Desert of Africa, the Great Desert of Oceania, the Great Desert of Central Asia, the Great Arab Desert, the Great Desert of South America and the Great Desert of the western United States. Among them, from the Sahara Desert through the Arabian Desert to the Great Desert of Central Asia, it is almost a connected desert zone, accounting for about 67% of the total desert area of the world. The great desert of Central Asia includes the desert of Central Asia, Mongolia and the desert region of northwest China.

Desert soil is mainly distributed in most of Xinjiang in northwest China, the western part of Gansu and Inner Mongolia, the Qaidam Basin in Qinghai and Ningxia, etc., with a large area, accounting for about 1% of the total area of the country. The land spans two climatic zones, roughly bounded by Tianshan Mountain and Mazong Mountain, and bounded by the western edge of Chijin Basin to Qilian Mountain. The north is temperate desert and the south is warm temperate desert. The total area of desert soil in China is about 740000 square kilometers, accounting for 7.71 percent of the country's total land area.

Desert soil is mostly used for grazing, and irrigated agriculture is developed only in areas with good water sources and flat terrain, which belongs to areas where there is no irrigation or no agriculture.

Crops suitable for planting in desert soil should be drought-tolerant, such as millet, corn, sorghum, peanuts and so on. There are not many varieties of fruit trees, such as seabuckthorn, sand mulberry, black wolfberry, red jujube, grape, walnut, apricot, apple, fig, pistachio (pistachio) and so on.
