After the implementation of the responsibility system in rural areas, chemical fertilizers stored in farmers' homes are often kept improperly, resulting in fertilizer moisture absorption, caking, and even seeds can not germinate normally. Then how to keep the fertilizer properly? Why is it not suitable to store chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the room?

"six precautions" should be achieved when keeping chemical fertilizers reasonably:

① anti-mixing. When chemical fertilizers are mixed together, it is easy to reduce the fertilizer efficiency.

Ammonium nitrogen fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate and ammonium chloride will cause ammonia volatilization loss when they encounter alkaline substances such as plant ash and lime. Water-soluble phosphate fertilizers such as calcium superphosphate and ammonium phosphate will reduce the availability of phosphorus when they encounter alkaline substances.

The ② defense sign does not live up to its name. Some farmers use compound fertilizer bags to pack urea, some use urea bags to pack compound fertilizer or ammonium sulfate, and some use imported compound fertilizer bags to pack special fertilizer, so it is easy to make mistakes in the process of use. If a farmer uses phosphate fertilizer to mix seeds when growing soybeans and mistakenly uses cement for calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer, as a result, soybeans live in a "cement house". If they are impervious to air and water, soybeans will not be able to sprout.

③ breakproof bag packing. Nitrate fertilizer has strong hygroscopicity and will turn into slurry, even liquid, after absorbing water. It should be sealed and stored, usually with ceramic containers such as vats or altars, tightly capped, or sealed with two plastic bags. Ammonium bicarbonate will accelerate the volatilization loss of ammonia after moisture absorption. After moisture absorption of calcium superphosphate, it is not only easy to agglomerate and inconvenient to use, but also cause the degradation of phosphorus and reduce the content of available phosphorus.

④ fireproof, especially nitrate nitrogen fertilizers such as potassium nitrate, will decompose oxygen in case of high temperature (200℃), and burn or explode in case of open fire.

⑤ anticorrosion. Calcium superphosphate contains free acid, while ammonium bicarbonate is alkaline. This kind of chemical fertilizer should not be in direct contact with metal containers or scales to avoid corrosion.

⑥ should pay full attention to the prevention of mixed storage of fertilizer, seed and food, especially the mixture of volatile ammonium bicarbonate and seed.

PS: why is it not suitable to store chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the room?

Some chemical fertilizers and pesticides are unstable in nature, and the gases released during storage will be harmful to human health. Ammonium bicarbonate in chemical fertilizer is volatile and easy to volatilize ammonia. According to research, ammonia often irritates the eyes, which can cause chemical burns of the eyes, causing light fear, tears, pain and other irritating symptoms. In severe cases, in addition to the above-mentioned symptoms, it also causes damage to eye tissue, especially the cornea. If people live in ammonia for a long time, they can cause pharyngitis, rhinitis, tracheitis, pneumonia and respiratory tract burns. Pesticides can not only cause poisoning, but also most pesticides have fumigation effect, and its harmful gases can enter human blood through respiratory tract, skin, digestive tract and other ways, and cause toxic reactions in liver, kidney, heart and other parts through tissue cell membrane. some can also cause cancer, which is more harmful to pregnant women and the next generation.
