Summary of some experiences on vernalization and florescence management of Chunhuilan in North China
Author: fengrenyu
The best time for vernalization is 2 months from Lesser Snow to Greater Cold (from November 22nd to January 22nd each year), with emphasis on the next month, that is, from the Winter Solstice to Greater Cold (December 22nd to January 22nd). Choose those spring cymbidium unearthed from buds with 3-4CM to vernalize. Some orchids come to flower later, which can be postponed appropriately. The vernalization temperature had better be between 0 and 10 degrees. During vernalization, we should pay attention to the root water control, prolong the watering time, and also pay attention to maintaining the basin surface humidity. You can put some semi-dry and semi-wet water moss near the bud (it is appropriate to hold water with your hands). Tin foil of appropriate size can be used to cover the bud, which can increase the humidity of the bud, reduce watering and reduce the humidity in the basin. Daily watering should be careful not to let water into the bud, especially if the water into the coat can not let direct sunlight, so as not to cause decay or leave water imprint on the petals.
Reduce the light during vernalization, but it is not completely without light, it is better to see the morning light. I put it on the northeast windowsill and can see the light for at least an hour in the morning.
There is a temperature transition period of three or four days after vernalization. Let the temperature rise gradually as far as possible to avoid a sharp rise and drop in temperature. After that, you can enter the normal management temperature (about 10-19 degrees Celsius). In the bud pull-out period, attention should be paid to maintaining environmental humidity. High humidity is conducive to the uplift of the flower stem. At the same time, pay attention to avoid bright light. Flowering period can be about 5-7 degrees temperature difference is the best, due to the limitations of our environment, can not create such conditions, only two or three degrees temperature difference, because the previous work is better, the flower pole is still very high.

Orchid wound healing principle and how to deal with
Orchids are monocotyledonous plants and have no cambium, so the wound will not grow callus like dicotyledonous plants, but can only rely on the drying of the outer dead cell tissue as protection. Therefore, it is generally dried, or as soon as possible to let the outer cells dry (scalding) or artificially add protective film (coating or sealing agent). The new...
