If you want to get good quality cherries, you can use grafting technology, so when is the best time for cherry grafting? How to graft? What attention do you have?

Cherry appearance bright color, crystal beautiful, sweet and delicious taste, is recognized as the world's "king of natural VC" and "fruit of life." Want to get good quality cherry, can pass grafting technology, so cherry grafting good when? How to graft? What are the precautions? It is understood that the best grafting time of cherry is from late March to early April, this period mostly adopts bud grafting or cleavage with xylem, survival rate is high.

How are cherries grafted?

1. Select tree species (plum, peach can be), grafting rootstock thickness should be more than 0.7 cm, scion should be collected 1 year old branches, select full buds for grafting buds.

2. Grafting, in the rootstock base from the ground about 10 cm, select smooth parts, along the vertical direction, gently cut about 2.5 cm long, about 2 mm deep oval surface.

3. When cutting the bud, cut it at 1.5 cm below the bud, gently cut the bud from the scion, and cut it into long oval buds about 2.5 cm long and 2 mm thick.

4. Stick the bud tightly onto the shaved surface of the rootstock and wrap it tightly with plastic tape.

Notes after cherry grafting

1. Release them in time.

Cherry grafting, such as rain or watering, easy to cause glue flow, affecting survival. Therefore, do not water within half a month after grafting. Budding seedlings should be loosened in time after survival to prevent rain from penetrating into the cortex along the binding material and causing glue flow.

2. Anti-folding of binding tips

Grafted bud germination, rapid growth, due to soft wood, very easy to bend or wind break. Therefore, when the buds grow to 20~30cm, it is necessary to set up pillars in time to fix the new shoots on the pillars to prevent them from being broken by the wind.

3. timely shearing anvil

For budding seedlings that have survived, the rootstock should be cut. The suitable time for cutting rootstock is before the bud turns green but not germinates. Cutting rootstock too early is easy to cause rootstock drying and bud death. Cutting stock is to use pruning shears to cut off the rootstock seedlings at about lcm on the bud. When cutting stock, it is best to cut the bud side slightly higher and the back side of the bud slightly lower to form an inclined plane, which is conducive to healing.

4. bud picking

During this period, the buds on the rootstock seedlings should be wiped off repeatedly, and field management should be strengthened to promote the growth of grafted seedlings. When the grafted seedlings grow to 30~40cm, the seedlings are picked to promote the lower branches. To mid-July on the upper part of the branch can be removed again, can increase the number of branches, conducive to early results of seedlings.

5. fertilizer and water management

After grafting seedlings sprout, fertilizer and water management should be strengthened, generally watering once every 20 days or so. Combined with watering, chemical fertilizer should be applied timely. The first time can be in the middle and late May, and urea 5~10kg per mu should be applied. The second time can be in mid-July, about 15kg diammonium phosphate per mu. In the future, fertilizer and water should be properly controlled to ensure the maturity of seedlings and improve the overwintering ability of seedlings.

6. pest control

After sprouting in spring, we should pay attention to the prevention and control of small gray weevil; after picking seedlings germinate new shoots, we should prevent the harm of pear fruit borer. From the first ten days of July to the first ten days of August, 250 times of multi-dose Bordeaux mixture was sprayed twice in succession to prevent early defoliation.

Cherry grafting methods and precautions, do you know? If you want to get high yield and high quantity of cherries, these are all things you need to know!
