The demand for garlic increased in 2017 compared with previous years, alleviating the situation of overproduction. It is estimated that the total demand for garlic in 2017 will be about 7.2 million tons. If there are no major natural disasters, the market price of garlic in the 2017 garlic season will be within the range of 4-6 yuan / kg. It can be seen that the planting prospect is still good, so when is the most appropriate time to sow garlic in our country? Are there any differences in planting time among different regions?

In addition, garlic seeds must be selected, which is the basis for high and stable yield, especially with vegetative organs as seeds. It is better to grow garlic with large cloves, although the amount of seed is large, but the garlic pseudostem produced is thick and poor in quality. Therefore, small garlic cloves, diseases, insects and mechanically injured garlic cloves should be removed.

In harvesting, we should also pay attention to:

1. Harvest garlic bolts. Generally speaking, when the garlic bolts pull out the leaf sheath and begin to bend, it is the appropriate time to collect the garlic bolts. The harvest of garlic bolts is best carried out at noon and afternoon on a sunny day, when the plant is wilting, the leaf sheath and garlic bolts are easy to separate, and the leaves are tough and not easy to break, which can reduce the damage of leaves.

2. Harvest garlic. Garlic can be collected 15-20 days after garlic bolting (mostly 18 days). The signs of harvesting garlic in the right time are: most of the leaves are dry, the upper leaves fade into gray-green, the leaf tip is dry and drooping, the pseudostem is in a soft state, and the garlic basically grows.
