Nowadays, Weilingxian is becoming more and more popular and has high planting value. So what kind of medicine is Weilingxian? Which areas of our country can be planted? How should I plant it?

What is Weilingxian?

Weilingxian is a common traditional Chinese medicine in China, which is used as a root to remove rheumatism, diuresis, menstruation, analgesia and other functions. In modern clinical practice, its new uses have been found constantly, such as the treatment of gallstones, calcaneal spur, heel pain, esophageal cancer and so on.

At the same time, Weilingxian can also be made into pesticides, which has a considerable control effect on bridge insects, cabbage insects, ground tigers and other pests.

In which areas of our country can Weilingxian be planted?

Weilingxian is wild in hillsides, forest margins or bushes rich in humus, and grows more in cutting sites, sparse forests and valleys. The requirements of climate and soil are not strict, but the cool and humid climate and mountain brown soil or sandy loam rich in humus are the best. Plots that are too low-lying, waterlogged or dry do not grow well.

Mainly distributed in southern Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, southern Shaanxi, Guangxi, Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei, Henan, Fujian, Taiwan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, southern Jiangsu, south of Anhui Huaihe River.

How do you grow Weilingxian?

Seed direct seeding or seedling transplanting can be used in production, and seedling transplanting is better.

1. Land selection and land preparation: Weilingxian should choose mountain brown soil or sandy loam with deep soil layer, good drainage, loose and fertile loam, 2500-3000 kg per mu of rotten stable compost or compost, ploughing 20-25 cm deep, leveling and raking fine, and making a border or ridge 1.2 meters wide.

two。 Timely transplanting: the seedlings of Weilingxian were raised by sowing method in spring for about half a month, and were transplanted and planted 50-60 days after emergence. Before the root buds germinated in spring, the root buds were cut with a knife, and then the plant row spacing was 30 × 40 cm and then directly transplanted into the field.

3. Intermediate ploughing and weeding: the rice straw covered by Weilingxian seedlings was removed in time after being unearthed. When the seedling height was 3 ~ 5cm, the weeding was done once, and then again according to the weed growth. After planting in the field, the weeding was ploughed and weeded 2 times a year.

4. Water and fertilizer management: Weilingxian seedling stage combined with ploughing and weeding, applying light human feces, urine or other nitrogen fertilizer, applying phosphate fertilizer or compound fertilizer twice after planting, timely drainage in cloudy and rainy weather, watering in dry weather.

5. Scaffolding and pruning: when Weilingxian seedlings are 30cm to 50cm high, branches and other scaffolding materials are set up between the rows for plant climbing growth, so as to avoid stems and leaves being entangled together, affecting growth due to poor ventilation and light transmission, and cutting off overdense vines appropriately in order to promote root development.

6. Harvest and processing:

(1) Collection and processing of tender seedlings

In the early and middle of May, when the seedlings reached 20-30cm high, the young parts were collected and blanched in boiling water for 10-15 minutes, then soaked in cold water for 30 minutes, then ready to eat, salted or dried. It can be picked 2 years after planting, and the annual yield is 100-150 kg per mu from the second year after planting.

(2) harvesting and processing of roots

Generally, the medicine was collected 3 years after planting. When the stems and leaves of Weiling fairy wither in autumn, dig up the roots, remove the stems, leaves and soil, and dry them in the sun. The yield of fresh root per mu is about 2500 kg, and the drying rate is 2.5%.
