When is orange grafting appropriate?

Orange tree grafting, spring, summer and autumn can be carried out, autumn is the most suitable, the general survival rate of more than 90%.

How do oranges graft?

During grafting, rootstock should be treated first, then bud should be cut. T-shaped bud grafting is adopted, and a T-shaped opening is cut at the position of 3 - 5 cm from the ground of the rootstock, and the depth is suitable to see the xylem and peel off the bark of the rootstock; and then the rootstock bark is carefully peeled off with a knife tip, and the shield-shaped bud with petiole is quickly embedded. After grafting, the soil is 10 cm high. After 10~15 days, dig the soil and check the survival situation. If the bud is fresh and light green, the petiole will fall as soon as it touches, indicating that it has survived, otherwise it has not survived, and it should be re-connected behind the rootstock.

After grafting, the budding seedlings are managed. After spring of the following year, the stems are cut off at 18~20 cm above the budding point, and the binding materials are untied. In summer, prune 3 - 4 times and cut off the branches of rootstock. When the new shoots grow to 8~10 cm, tie them to the live stake near the base; when they grow to 20~25 cm, tie them again at the upper end. After lignification of graft, cut off the living stake and continue to cultivate big seedlings in field.
