Which is better, red sweet-scented osmanthus or golden osmanthus?

1. The red flower usually refers to the cinnamon, while the yellow flower usually refers to the golden cinnamon. People prefer the red-flowered cinnamon, because its red fragrance is loved by the growers.

2. The flowers of cinnamon are golden yellow, and the smell is lighter than that of cinnamon, and the leaves are thicker. Jin Gui blossoms in autumn, and the color is mainly yellow (lemon yellow and golden yellow). Among them, Jin Gui is divided into ball cinnamon, narrow leaf Jin Gui, Liu Ye Su Gui and Jin Qiu Zao Gui and many other varieties.

Sweet-scented osmanthus with lush and evergreen leaves, long age, blooming in autumn and fragrant overflowing with fragrance, is a special ornamental flower and fragrant tree in China. The areas of concentrated distribution and cultivation of sweet-scented osmanthus in China are mainly the vast tropical and northern subtropical areas from the north of Lingnan to the Qinling Mountains and the south of the Huaihe River, which is roughly equivalent to 2433 °north latitude.

So you can't say which is better, you can only say that your personal preferences are different.

How to cultivate red sweet-scented osmanthus seedlings?

1. Nursery site preparation: deep digging can be done twice in winter, and a seedbed with high 20cm and wide 90cm can be prepared. You can also make use of the open space left after the spring seedlings come out of the nursery to arrange production, first turn deeply, pick out sundries and other sundries, wait for the end of spring seedling production, and make a turtle-back-shaped seedbed with slightly higher and lower sides in the middle, high 20cm and wide 90cm.

2. Cutting: the substrate requires acid soil or sandy soil with loose air permeability, good drainage and high humus content, so as to make it take root quickly and have a high survival rate. One month before cuttage, the weeds on the seedling bed were eradicated, then disinfected with formaldehyde solution of 1purl 100, turned over again, and the cutter was sprayed with 8-1000 times solution of trichlorfon to eliminate nematodes. 10-15 days before cutting, disinfect with lime water. Three days before cutting, rinse the cutter with clean water. After the cutter is dry, level the bed.

3. Seed strip selection: the mother tree with excellent variety, strong plant and 20-25-year-old mother tree was selected, and the annual strong side branches were collected as cuttings, but the thin and weak branches, inner bore branches and disease and insect branches could not be used as cuttings.

4. Seed collection: in Guilin, Guangxi, the summer softwood cutting time of Cinnamomum cassia is usually in the middle and last ten days of June, when the daily average temperature in Guilin is 21 ℃ ~ 23 ℃, and the daytime temperature is 25 ℃ ~ 28 ℃, which is suitable for the growth of Cinnamomum cassia. At this time, the new shoot has stopped growing, but not yet mature, in a semi-Lignification state, the internal cell division of the branch is active, the cutting incision is easy to heal, the rooting is fast, and the survival rate is high. Early cutting, young branches are not easy to survive; too late cutting, the internal cell division of branches tends to stop, it is not easy to root and survive.

5. Cuttings collection and treatment: cuttings should be taken in sunny mornings or cloudy days with less water evaporation, but can not be collected in dry and rainy days. The collected cuttings should be shipped back in time, spread out in a cool place, sprinkle with a small amount of water, and then covered with soaked cotton cloth to moisturize.

Cuttings should choose one-and-a-half lignified branches with strong growth, full tissue and dense leaves, generally cut 10~15cm, keep 2-3 leaves at the top, and the remaining leaves should be removed; cuttings should be cut into horseshoe shape, the cut mouth should be smooth, to facilitate cutting and healing rooting, the lower end of cut cuttings should be aligned and tied up in a bundle of 30-50 plants. Then discharge neatly and vertically in the prepared 100ppm naphthalene acetic acid solution or ABT rooting powder solution, generally soak for 8 hours for 10 hours, wash the roots with clean water and then cuttings.

7. Cutting method: the plant spacing of the cuttings is 5cm, the row spacing is 10cm, the cuttings are inserted obliquely, and the depth of the cuttings is the length of the cuttings. After insertion, the bed soil is compacted, the grass is covered between the rows, and the water is drenched once, so that the cuttings can be closely combined with the soil without gaps. When the length of the new branch is more than 6cm, it can be moved into the seedling bed for cultivation. During bed insertion, pay attention to moisturizing and shading to prevent stagnant water. 80,000 plants of Cinnamomum cassia can be cut per mu of seedling bed, which is suitable for large area propagation.

8. The common pests of cassia trees are scale insects, mites (red spiders), spider moths (caterpillars) and so on. Mites, also known as red spiders, adult leaves were killed, showing gray-yellow, with small, yellow with white spots, young leaves in the middle of May, the leaves were deformed, uneven, showing yellowish-brown patches.
