In a few months, it will be time for gardenia to bloom, and gardenia flowers can not only make tea to drink, but also have high ornamental value, so many people like to plant on their own balcony, how many times a year do gardenias bloom? How many years can it blossom? How can it blossom?

How many times a year do you bloom?

In general, gardenia will bloom one after another from mid-April to late May. Early June is the full bloom of late flower varieties, but gardenia can bloom two seasons a year under outdoor natural conditions. Because the temperature, humidity and natural ecological environment in spring and autumn are in line with the flowering habits of gardenia, and the natural gene of gardenia has the characteristics of two seasons of flowers a year. Nowadays, many greenhouse flowers can bloom several times a year, or blossom out of season, but they artificially change the growth characteristics of plants, not the natural characteristics of plants. Should not be a rare alternative flower species, but outdoors can open three seasons a year is very few, ornamental value increases, meet the value of people who like it will naturally increase!

How many years can it blossom?

Gardenia likes warm, moist semi-shady environment, slightly shade-resistant, afraid of strong light exposure. The flowering period is longer, from May to June to August, and the fruit ripening stage is October. But a single flower blooms for only 4-5 days. If the fertilizer is added, the flower buds will be more, and the florescence will be longer.

How can it blossom?

1. Soil

Gardenia is an indicator plant of acidic soil, so the slightly acidic environment of soil is the key to determine the growth of gardenia. The culture soil is made of 70% of slightly acidic sandy red soil and 30% of rotten leaves. It is appropriate to control the soil pH value between 4.0 and 6.5.

Second, temperature

The optimum growth temperature of Gardenia jasminoides is 16 ℃-18 ℃. Too low temperature and direct sunlight are extremely disadvantageous to its growth, so it is appropriate to keep gardenia in sparse forest or shade shed with good ventilation, high air humidity and transparent light in summer. Winter in the sun, the temperature is not lower than 0 ℃ of the environment, let it dormant, the temperature is too high will affect the flowering in the coming year.

Third, moisture

Gardenia likes moist air, and should be watered appropriately during the growing period. Usually the pot soil can be watered once the soil turns white and thoroughly at one time. Hot and dry in summer, spray to the leaves 2-3 times a day to increase air humidity and help plant cool. However, after the flower budding, watering should not be too much, so as not to cause bud drop. It is better to water dry in winter to prevent the roots from rotting.

IV. Fertilizer

Gardenia is a fertilizer-loving plant. In order to meet the demand for fertilizer during its growing period and maintain the slightly acidic environment of the soil, ferrous sulfate can be mixed into the fertilizer solution in advance to ferment. After entering the peak growing season in April, you can top fertilize every half month (you'd better mix more water when fertilizing to prevent burning flowers). This can not only meet the fertilizer demand of Gardenia jasminoides, but also keep the soil environment in a relatively balanced slightly acidic environment, prevent the occurrence of chlorosis, and avoid the damage of sudden supplement of ferrous sulfate and local excessive acid to gardenia.

V. Reproduction

Although there are many ways to breed gardenia, the most simple and quick method is floating water insertion. First, find a foam board and punch holes up. Cut off the semi-ripe branches of Gardenia jasminoides that year, insert them into the holes of the foam board, then put the foam board into a bucket filled with water, and place the bucket in an environment that can not only shade the floating board, but also let the sun shine on the bucket, and control the water temperature between 18 ℃ and 25 ℃. Gardenia can grow roots of more than 3 centimeters in a week. This method cuttings gardenia flower, the survival rate is 100%.
