How to plant and prune mulberry trees?

Planting techniques:

1. Sowing method

Selecting a good seedling land is the first pass, and it is appropriate to choose the sandy loam soil with fertile and loose land and convenient clearance as the nursery. 4-6 days before sowing, it is best to spray herbicides comprehensively, and each mu of ground can also be combined with 2 kilograms of chlordane powder pesticides, and then rake the land vertically and horizontally. depending on the drainage conditions, the border surface should be fine and flat.

Mulberry seeds as soon as possible buy and sow, each seed mixed with five parts of fine soil, (if the land is not sprinkled with pesticides should also be mixed with pesticides). Divide the mulberry seeds into jin according to the border, the thickness of which is faintly visible, and sprinkle with water for the first time after covering. If possible, soak the mulberry seeds in clean water for 24 hours, take out and spread them in foil, cover with a wet cloth, put them in a relatively warm place (2330 ℃), sprinkle and turn once or twice a day, and often keep moist. Wait for most mulberry seeds to spit white (that is, expose young roots) after sowing, mulberry buds should not be allowed to grow too long, so as to avoid damage during sowing.

Water is the lifeblood after sowing, especially the budding seeds. Within half a month of sowing, water must be drenched every morning and evening, and the soil surface is often kept moist. The management after sowing is the key to strengthening the whole seedling. When the mulberry seedling is about 1 inch high, the overdense mulberry is removed, the plant spacing is 1 inch, when the seedling is 2 to 3 inches, the gap between mulberry trees is 1 inch 1.5 inch, and the seedlings are best carried out after rain or water. Ensure that there are about 8 to 150000 seedlings per mu, and the mulberry seedlings will be exposed according to the situation.

2. Grafting and raising seedlings

Generally, the seedlings propagated by local mulberry seeds are used as rootstocks, and the branches of excellent mulberry varieties with high yield and good leaf quality are used as scions. Check whether it is alive or not in the following 10 to 15 days, and those who are not alive need to be replaced. We should also pay attention to the prevention of diseases and insect pests, removal of rootbuds, timely irrigation and fertilization to promote new shoot growth.

3. Cuttage seedling

Hardwood cutting uses the new shoot of mulberry cut by spring cutting as ear cutting in early April, and mulberry green wood cutting uses the new shoot cut by summer cutting as ear cutting in late May. Before cutting, cut the branch into 16-20 cm long, the upper end of each branch should be cut across, there should be a full bud 1 cm away from the cut, and the lower cut should be close to the leaf mark and cut into a smooth bevel, and then store it indoors for 15-20 days. The specific method is as follows: a bundle of branches and roots after sand storage are soaked in ABT rooting powder solution with 50ppm concentration for 35 hours, then vertically buried in the open-air rooting pool made of fine sand, covered with sand 15cm, then covered with nylon film, the branches are taken out and planted into the seedbed after days, and the buds are not exposed after planting.

Trim:

1. Trees can be pruned for the first time after falling leaves in autumn, cutting off small branches. The aim is to prevent nutrients from being absorbed and wasted by twigs throughout the winter.

2. Then prune it before the spring sprouts in the coming year. At this time, the main object of pruning is the top of the plant branch, that is, the head. The aim is to suppress the apical dominance of the plant so that more leaves and buds can be produced from the branches. (according to this method, the plant will grow strong and the fruit will bear a lot.)

Other pruning methods can be attributed to the pruning of plant shapes, according to their own needs, but the principle is that sturdy main branches should not be easily trimmed, because plant wounds can also be "infected" (rot). If you really want to trim off the main branches, wrap the wound in plastic sheet after cutting, the main purpose is to be waterproof.
