It is now spring, many farmers shed watermelon stems have covered the ground, but some watermelon leaves are cracked, the opening is large and small, long and short, but there is red glue on each crack. So why on earth did the watermelon stem crack? How to "prescribe the right medicine"?

As a matter of fact, this situation does not develop one after another, but only after it has been watered once recently. It is precisely because of fear of the occurrence of vine blight, so the timely use of medicine for prevention and control, but the effect is not very ideal.

From the occurrence of the whole greenhouse, the cracks in the stems were not caused by vine blight, but by physiological problems, mainly due to the excessive control of watering before blooming of watermelon and the large temperature difference between day and night in the shed.

In general, vegetable farmers will properly control the water before and after the watermelon blossoms so that the flowers can be pollinated normally. When the melon sits down, it is often difficult to control the soil moisture during this period. In addition, the temperature difference between day and night in spring is large, the temperature at night is less than 10 ℃, while the temperature in the arch shed can reach more than 30 ℃ during the day. In this environment, the stem vine expands rapidly after sudden watering, just like a split melon, and the cells in the stem vine grow faster than the stem vine epidermis, so there is a large number of splitting.

After the split, the crack is very easy to be infected by bacteria, so some cracks will show symptoms of vine blight due to infection.

So what should we do with it?

1. It should be watered reasonably to keep the soil moisture stable and do not let the soil become too dry.

two。 Improve the thermal insulation performance of the arch shed, properly reduce the temperature difference between day and night (the temperature difference between day and night should be kept in the range of 12-15 ℃), and ensure that there is no sudden drastic change of temperature in the shed.

3. Functional foliar fertilizer can be sprayed to improve the flexibility of leaves and stem cells and avoid splitting due to drastic changes in water in the plant.

4. Protective agent should be sprayed at the right time to prevent the crack from being infected by bacteria.
