When will it be ready? How do you plant it?

Do you have any seeds?

Yes, it is not easy for us to see fruit in many plants, but it is generally due to varieties, species, and growth environment that they cannot form fruits. In fact, cross breeding is still the most important means for garden plants to get new varieties, and cuckoos are no exception. If there are no seeds, how can new varieties be obtained by means of hybridization? Some flowers, in fact, as long as artificial pollination, you will find that they can also bear fruit, while cuckoos, wild varieties bear fruit a lot.

The latest price of seeds:

The market price of rhododendron seeds is about 35 yuan to 60 yuan per kilogram. The market price of rhododendron seeds varies from region to region, so the local price should prevail when buying.

Planting time:

The sowing is usually carried out in a medium-temperature greenhouse from March to April, and the seedlings can emerge in 2-3 weeks at a room temperature of 15 ℃. They can be transplanted once when the true leaves grow out. After autumn, they can be planted in pots and bloom 4-5 years later. Sowing: rhododendron has high fruiting string, many seeds, high germination rate, a large number of offspring can be obtained with seeds, and rhododendron seedlings have strong plasticity and vitality, which is an important means of introduction and breeding.

Planting techniques:

1. Seed germination technology:

The capsule and net seeds of rhododendron preserved at room temperature or low temperature (4 ℃) for more than 3 months were cultivated by petri dish germination method and flowerpot seedling method. the results showed that the seed germination rate was as high as 96%. When the germinated seeds were transplanted into flowerpots and covered with humus soil about 1cm thickness, the seedlings grew healthily and neatly, and the survival rate was higher. From October to March of the following year, rhododendron seedlings were placed in a 20-25 ℃ greenhouse and outdoors from April to September. The growth rate of the seedlings increased, and they could grow normally without falling leaves in winter.

Seed collection: when the autumn gourd fruit is green-brown or yellowish brown, it can be harvested, put it indoors to dry, wait for it to crack, shake out the seed, and store it in the indoor dry place. Sow seeds in the next spring.

2. Sowing seeds

Use a shallow basin, wooden box or in the floor bed, with rhododendron well-drained coarse-grained soil to lay the bottom, 2 cm with orchid mud or rotten leaf soil (all need to be sterilized). After the seeds are removed, cover with a thin layer of fine soil. Or spread 0.5-1 cm broken water moss on the orchid mud and sow the seeds directly into the water moss without covering. Then wet the basin soil with water, cover it with film or glass plate, and place it in a shady place.

3. Management

Keep the basin soil moist before emergence. Generally, seedlings emerge in about 20 days at 15-20 ℃, and the germination rate is 75-85%. After that, the mulch can be removed, pay attention to ventilation and improve the resistance of seedlings. Spray wet with a sewing sprinkler when dry, do not flush the seedlings.

4. Divide the seedlings

Deciduous rhododendron grows faster and can be transplanted for the first time when 2-3 true leaves are grown, with a distance of 2-3 cm. Grow to 2-3 cm high after autumn, dig up and transplant again in a 3-inch small basin, 3 plants a basin. In the second year, according to the growth situation, the flowers can be seen in 3-4 years. The evergreen rhododendron was transplanted for the first time after autumn and again in the next autumn. The seedling stage should avoid strong light, rainstorm and strong wind, the soil should not be too wet, and watering should still be sprayed.
