Can a cherry be planted?(with method)

The cherries bought can grow cherry seedlings after eating, but sometimes the germination rate is not high, this is because we need mature cherries, and the cherries on the market are generally not ripe, because ripe is not easy to pour, so the survival rate is not high.

In addition, most of the common big cherries on the market are sterile and can only be grafted, but small cherries can be planted, so sometimes the cherries grown from our big cherries are degraded varieties.

How do cherry seeds grow?

1) Saving seeds

The first thing to do is to get healthy, plump organic cherry seeds. You just need to eat some cherries to get natural fruit cores. After that, you can soak these cherry cores in warm water for 5 minutes. You need to clean up all the pulp residue on the fruit cores.

After that, prepare some paper towels to spread on the table, pack the cleaned and soaked cherry pit, put it in a ventilated and warm place to dry for 3~5 days, and after the pit is dry, put the pit into a clean container with a lid, which cannot contain moisture, and then put the sealed bottle in the refrigerator for about 10 weeks.

Some friends will ask why the cherry pit should be kept in the refrigerator for 10 weeks, because the cherry pit needs to go through a period of cold dormancy before it can germinate. In the natural environment, the cherry pit can germinate in spring after a cold winter.

And we put the seeds in the refrigerator to simulate cold winter, and after 10 weeks they can be seeded and propagated.

2. Preparation for sowing

After 10 weeks, take out the cherry core, and then put it in the normal temperature environment. Prepare the sowing container. The container should be smaller and well drained. The soil should be loose and well drained. Avoid standing water in the basin. The small container is easy to cultivate and avoid rotten roots.

Tip: If you want the cherry stone to germinate and take root as soon as possible, you also need to prepare a pair of pliers, remove the shell of the cherry stone, expose the white embryo inside, and plant the embryo in the soil, so that it can germinate faster.

3. Keep the soil moist at all times

The pit is placed directly under the soil. After shallow burial, it is watered thoroughly. The soil is slightly moist during curing. It can be placed on the windowsill in a ventilated and bright place.

You can put many seeds in a small container. After the seedlings grow to 2~3 cm, remove some weak seedlings and let the strong seedlings grow in small pots.

4. Pay attention to late maintenance

After the seedlings grow out, they should be placed in a place with sufficient sunshine until the frost outside is over and warm, so that the seedlings can be placed outside for maintenance, which is more conducive to the growth of cherry seedlings, and then the watering amount can be appropriately reduced.

If you want to plant cherry trees in the ground later, each tree needs to be spaced 6 meters apart to avoid planting too closely. Cherry tree growth needs regular fertilization, early regrowth is mainly to promote the growth of branches and leaves, early to low-nitrogen fertilizer.

How long does it take for cherry trees to bear fruit?

Cherry trees are generally long after 3 to 7 years to bear fruit, but I usually treat it as potted maintenance, want to bear fruit is best to buy cuttings directly, maintenance needs a very long time, need more patience, in order to eat sweet cherry fruit, all this is worth it. Once the cherry tree matures, it will continue to bear fruit every year.
