Rose is known as the queen of flowers, also known as month red, moon flowers, Catharanthus roseus, four seasons, Shengchun, four seasons bloom, usually red, or pink, occasionally white and yellow. When is the right time to trim the rose flowers? How do you trim it? What are the technologies?

When is the right time to trim the rose?

1. The time of pruning rose in autumn is at the end of August or the beginning of September. Pruning at this time coincides with the use of its 45-day growing period to produce beautiful flowers in early October.

2. Rose needs to be pruned frequently. Especially potted rose, because of limited space, nutrients are not very sufficient, and pruning can reduce unnecessary nutrient consumption, at the same time make the plant type more beautiful, blooming constantly. Otherwise, not only the flowering ability will be weakened, but also the disease resistance will be reduced. With regard to the relatively strong winter scissors, you must be patient and start pruning after the fallen leaves of the rose, so that the flowers will bloom better in the coming year.

How to trim the rose? What are the technologies?

The pruning methods of rose are also different due to different varieties, growth habits, soil and climatic conditions in different regions. However, there are also some common pruning techniques, such as withered branches, old branches, diseased branches, injured branches, crossed branches, overlapping branches, overdense inner chamber branches and root tillers, which should all be cut out; lateral buds should be left in pruning to make the plant shape spread evenly. The period of pruning is usually divided into two types: dormant pruning and growing pruning.

The main results are as follows: 1. Dormant pruning should be carried out during the dormant period of rose in winter, which can rejuvenate the old plant, the flowers are numerous and large, and the plant shape is correct, which is generally carried out before the new buds sprout in early spring. According to the variety and growth habits, this pruning should decide whether to prune heavily, moderately or lightly. Generally, there are only 5 branches per plant and 3 buds per branch.

2. Pruning the rose during the growing period includes thinning buds, picking buds and removing residual flowers.

① bud thinning: spring is the period when rose sprouts densely. It must be carried out in time to remove the weak inner buds, overlapping, crossed buds and other inappropriate buds from the base, and each branch can retain 2 Mel and 3 robust buds. Bud thinning can continue from spring to winter dormancy and can be carried out at any time as needed.

② picking buds: picking buds varies from variety to variety. For the hybrid aromatic rose with single flowering, the lateral buds can be removed and only the middle main bud can be retained. In this way, nutrients can be concentrated to supply the main buds, and the flowers are large and plump. For a variety of multi-flowered and strong flowers, in order to get the effect of opening a large number of flowers at the same time, the main buds and overdense buds can be removed to make the florescence concentrated and the flower size symmetrical. For miniature rose, don't pick the buds and let them grow naturally. For newly planted young plants, when small flower buds are formed for the first time in spring, buds should be picked to accumulate nutrients and promote the development of new branches. This makes the seedlings grow faster and lays the foundation for the formation of a low-branched tree.

③ to remove residual flowers: cut off the residual flowers immediately after the flowers are withered. It is usually counted down from the flowers, cut at about 0.5 cm above the compound leaves of the second five-leaflet, cut off the upper branches and residual flowers, and retain the axillary buds of the second five-leaflet compound leaves, allowing it to pull out new branches. But be careful not to cut off too long pedicels. Because too many branches and leaves are cut off, it is disadvantageous to the growth of the plant.
