Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Spring is coming soon when the temperature picks up. After a long winter, it's time for your little succulent plant to change its basin and replenish its nutrition. Then how to operate it? follow Huahua together.

1. Selection of basin

With the growth of meat, the volume of the old basin may hinder the extension of the root, so choose a slightly larger one when changing the basin. The new basin is not too big, it can be compared with the old one, just a little bigger. There should be a drain at the bottom of the basin, which can not only give the roots enough space to grow, but also avoid the problems caused by stagnant water and rotten roots.

2. Take off the basin

Don't replenish the meat for two weeks before you decide to change the basin. Dry soil is easier to operate when it is removed, and it does not hurt the roots because the soil is too sticky. Gently hold the stem of the meat with your hands and buckle the pots upside down, so that you can easily take off the old pots.

3. Check the root system

Gently open the clod with your hands, check the roots of the meat, trim off the old roots when you see them, and protect the new roots. Because the ability of old roots to absorb nutrients is very limited, timely cleaning can promote the growth of new roots. Do not worry that the root cut will affect the later survival, rest assured to cut off the old root. After pruning, the roots are not as complicated as they used to be, leave them in a cool place and start the next step.

4. Matching soil

Put a layer of ceramsite at the bottom of the flowerpot to absorb excess water and avoid rotting roots, because the particles are also relatively large and will not affect the drainage at the bottom. Add a layer of peat soil on top of the ceramsite, add vermiculite and perlite on top, and mix it in equal quantities. Peat soil is four times the amount of vermiculite. Cover it with peat soil, vermiculite and perlite and stir well with a small shovel. This configuration of soil is relatively sparse and soft, and the air permeability is good, which is conducive to the growth of the root.

5. Planting

Dig a hole with a shovel, put the succulent plant in it, and cultivate the soil. A little more mixed soil can be added to the top layer and compacted slightly with your fingers. When you first plant it, don't rush to water it. Move it to a cool, ventilated place to slow down. Meat takes root faster when there is not enough water in the soil. After two to three weeks, the root is almost developed, and you can water it.
