"Pine cancer" what is pine wood nematode disease? Is it harmful to people? How to prevent and cure? What's the plan?
There are more than 80 species of pine in the world, which are not only many, but also widely distributed, but it is prone to an epidemic called pine wood nematode. Do you know what pine wood nematode disease is? Is it harmful to people? How to prevent and cure? What's the plan? According to the data of slippery blade family, pine wood nematode disease is also called pine wilt disease. Is a devastating epidemic of pine trees. Monochamus alternatus is its main media insect in China. The pathogenicity is strong, the host dies quickly; it spreads quickly and is often caught off guard; once it occurs, it is difficult to manage.
Is pine wood nematode harmful to people?
The main host of pine wood nematode disease is pine, which mainly occurs in black pine, red pine and Masson pine in China. In the seedling inoculation test, loblolly pine, coastal pine, yellow pine, Yunnan pine, Pinus koraiensis and Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica pine can also be infected, but the phenomenon of mass death has not occurred in nature. So there is no harm to people at present.
How to control pine wood nematode disease?
The prevention and control of pine wood nematode mainly adopts the transformation of stands and the removal of diseased and dead trees, as well as some chemical and biological measures to control Monochamus alternatus. The main prevention and control methods are:
1. Clear-cut seriously diseased pine forests and isolated diseased pine trees, and kill Monochamus alternatus in diseased trees by fumigation, heat treatment or slicing, so as to prevent the spread of the epidemic caused by emergence of Monochamus alternatus.
2. Fumigation, heat treatment or slicing should be used to kill Monochamus alternatus in thinning of diseased trees in diseased pine forest, such as diseased wood, diseased branches and root piles, so as to put an end to the spread of the epidemic.
3. For key protected areas, pine forests around them can be cut down and prevention and control zones can be established.
4. Quarantine blockade shall be carried out in the areas where the disease occurs, and untreated diseased materials are strictly prohibited from being transported to the areas where the disease has not occurred, so as to put an end to the spread of the epidemic.
5. During the emergence period of Monochamus alternatus, spraying insecticides to kill adults or setting wood traps to kill adults.
6. Spraying chemicals, releasing swollen leg wasps or Beauveria bassiana to control Monochamus alternatus larvae.
What is the plan for the control of pine wood nematodes?
The initial onset time of pine wood nematode disease in forest is generally from the end of May to the beginning of June, and the peak of pine wood nematode disease is in July and August. So you can take precautions in advance:
1. Do a good job in quarantine and blockade, which is an important means to prevent the introduction or long-distance transmission of pine wood nematode disease.
2. Do a good job in monitoring, early detection and treatment, and carry out prevention and control when the epidemic occurs in a small area and light harm, so as to eliminate pine wood nematode disease in the bud.
3. Clean up the diseased and dead trees in time and thoroughly. Before the emergence of the media insects, clean up all the diseased trees. The dry wood, branches and root piles of the diseased trees should be cleaned up and disposed of, so as to kill nematodes and media insects so as to prevent the re-spread of harm.
