Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Potato tuber is edible and is the fourth most important food crop in the world, second only to wheat, rice and corn. Potatoes are also known as ground eggs, potatoes, yams, etc., so what are the prospects for deep processing of potatoes? What products can be processed? No-tillage of potato covered with straw

Potato tubers are edible and are the fourth most important food crop in the world, after wheat, rice and maize. Potato also known as eggs, potatoes, potato, etc., that potato deep processing prospects? What products can be processed? What are potato mulching straw no-tillage cultivation techniques?

What are the prospects for potato deep processing?

Potatoes can be sold as potato chips or fried as snacks, or semi-finished products, and retail in large supermarkets. In fact, this is only enough to have a bright future. Cheap and delicious, loved by the masses. However, the health of food is becoming a trend, suggesting that potato processing should not only grasp the current fried, but also do some healthier exploration.

What products can potatoes be processed into?

1. Processing orange potato chips. Orange peel, potato and other raw materials processed orange potato chips, its golden color, sweet fragrance, crispy and delicious.

2. Potato vinegar. Using potato instead of grain to make vinegar essence not only has high yield, but also low cost and good quality.

3. Process low-fat fried potato chips.

Attachment: Cultivation techniques of potato covered with straw and no tillage

Potato no-tillage cultivation is a new cost-saving and efficiency-increasing technology. This new technology does not plow after harvest, divides soil moisture on the field (ground) surface during sowing, places seed potatoes according to planting specifications, applies seed fertilizer, pesticide and farm manure on the soil moisture surface, covers seed potatoes with straw and wheat straw, etc., and compacts the cover with soil moisture. It can reduce the damage caused by ploughing and preparation to soil structure, reduce investment, reduce labor intensity, reduce mechanical damage caused by digging during harvest, and improve commodity rate. The potato no-tillage cultivation techniques are introduced as follows:

1. Selection of plots

Choose the low-heat valley area below 1500m above sea level with no frost or light frost in winter for anti-season planting. Planting field ground level, deep tillage layer, water conservancy conditions are better, soil fertility is high, sandy loam.

2. Variety selection

One is to select marketable varieties; the other is to select varieties suitable for growth period; the third is to select virus-free seed potatoes instead of commercial seed potatoes; the fourth is to select seed potatoes whose dormant period has passed. After several years of experimental demonstration, Shengli 2, 5488, Heqinghong and other varieties are better.

3. Timely sowing

In low-heat valley areas, sowing in late November and harvesting in early March and early April of the following year. The planting specifications are as follows: 110cm soil moisture, 80cm soil moisture surface width, 30cm soil moisture groove width, 2 rows of germinated seed potatoes placed on the soil moisture surface, bud upward, 30cm spacing between 2 rows of seed potatoes, 55cm row spacing, 25cm plant spacing, 4727 seeds per mu.

4. Covering straw

After potato sowing and fertilization, 8-10cm straw should be evenly covered, and the whole soil surface should be evenly covered according to the method of vertical straw and grass tip to grass tip, gently compacted or pressed with a small amount of fine soil, leaving no gap. After seedling emergence, field inspection shall be carried out again, and some straw shall be paved to prevent straw from being too thin and leaking light, forming green potato and reducing quality.

5. Reasonable fertilization

Potato is sensitive to nitrogen and potassium, nitrogen and potassium are the main fertilizers, and phosphorus is applied appropriately. On the basis of applying 1500-2000 kg of high-quality farm manure per mu, 60 kg of compound fertilizer and 30 kg of calcium phosphate per mu are applied as base fertilizer in row spacing.

6. Slurry management

Potatoes like fertilizer, drought and fear waterlogging. The newly covered straw absorbs less water and is easy to dry. In case of dry climate, it can be watered properly to facilitate seedling emergence. Once the straw rotted, its water retention enhanced, rainy weather should be timely drainage.

7. Prevention and control of diseases, insects and weeds

Straw covering can preserve moisture and inhibit weed growth. Weeding is generally not needed, but potato late blight, bacterial wilt, ring rot, cutworm and other diseases and insect pests should be well controlled. 800-fold paclobutrazol can be sprayed at bud stage to control excessive seedling growth and increase yield. Before sowing, mix the poison powder into poison soil and apply it to the soil surface or planting ditch to control underground pests. Phoxim can also be used to spray water for control. Water spraying with metalaxyl phosphorus manganese zinc was used to control late blight at seedling height of 15cm, budding stage and flowering stage.

8. Harvest method

The stem leaves on the ground are normally yellow, and the tubers are harvested when they are fully mature. It is forbidden to harvest in rainy days. Cover more than 70% of potato pieces on the soil surface, open the straw can be picked up. A few grow in cracks or pores and potato pieces are also very shallow and easy to dig. It can also be harvested in stages, that is, the straw is gently opened to harvest the grown potato pieces, and then the straw is covered to allow the small potato to continue to grow. This harvesting method can not only select the best potato shape to market in time, but also obtain high yield and harvest, and improve economic benefits.
