Good storage conditions and scientific processing and storage management methods can prolong the life of seeds, improve the sowing quality of seeds and maintain the vigor of seeds. On the contrary, if the seed storage work is not done well, the seed vigor and vigor will decline, and the germination power will be so low that it can not be used as a seed, and if it is heavy, the whole warehouse seed will be feverish, moldy and rotten, and it can not be transferred to the market, nor can it be eaten by human beings and livestock, thus causing heavy economic losses. The following editor will introduce to you some storage methods and tricks of flower seeds.

What are the common storage methods of flower seeds?

1. Dry hiding method.

Most flower seeds can be collected in this way. First dry the seeds, remove their impurities, and put them into bags sewn with gauze, such as a string of red and cockscomb flowers, etc., do not put them into glass bottles or plastic bags, which are impervious to air and affect seed breathing. You can hang the seed bag in a cool and ventilated place and keep the room temperature at 5 ℃-10 ℃.

two。 Wet storage.

Lotus, peach blossom, plum blossom, rose, Phyllostachys pubescens, water lily and other flower seeds have high safe water content and can be stored in high humidity environment to maintain their vitality. If it is stored in a low temperature and humid place, it can replace the treatment before sowing, and seedlings can emerge after direct sowing.

There are three commonly used methods of wet storage:

① water storage method

Put the seeds in a bag and store them in running water. The seed storage place must be clean, free of silt and rotten grass. Stake around the seeds to prevent them from being washed away by water. The seeds of aquatic flowers such as lotus, water lilies, water lilies and oak species are suitable for water storage. The water storage method can only be used in places where the river does not freeze in winter, otherwise it is easy to cause seed freezing damage.

② wet sand burial method

When the seeds are buried in wet sand for storage, the volume of wet sand is about 3 times of the seed volume, the humidity of the sand should not be too high, and the temperature should be controlled at 2 ℃-3 ℃. The seeds are easy to germinate and mildew when the temperature is too high, and freezing damage will occur if the temperature is too low.

The sand storage time varies with flower species, such as rhododendron seeds 30-40 days, begonia seeds 50-60 days, Prunus mandshurica and elm plum seeds 70-90 days, and Chimonanthus seeds can be stored for more than 100 days.

The harvested seeds such as peony and peony can be placed in low temperature and wet sand of 0 ℃-5 ℃. Under natural conditions, this kind of seeds have a period of dormancy and then mature after dormancy. Take it out about a month before sowing and sow it in the spring. This method is not suitable for small seeds because it is difficult to pick out from the sand.

Bulbs, bulbs and other bulbs, such as taro, canna, dahlia, etc., should be dug out of the soil before frost, dried for 2-3 days, placed in a low-temperature, well-ventilated, moist room and covered with wet sand for storage. However, it should be noted that the covered sand should not be too wet to prevent mildew and rot, and the room temperature should be kept at 5 ℃-10 ℃. If it is too high, it is easy to sprout, and too low is easy to produce freezing damage.

③ pit method

Dig a pit 1-1.5 meters deep in the high-lying, dry and loose back sun, with the length and width depending on the number of seeds. The bottom of the pit is covered with a layer of gravel or coarse sand, and then a layer of coarse sand and a layer of seeds are stacked. The humidity of the sand should be held in the hand, but not out of the water. Instead of planting seeds 20 centimeters above the ground, cover the soil instead. In order to prevent mildew of seeds, a handful of straw or sorghum stalks should be erected every 1 meter to facilitate ventilation and heat dissipation.

Second, what is the secret of flower seed storage?

1. Clearance and disinfection. The garbage, fertilizers and pesticides in the warehouse are removed, and felt paper is laid in the warehouse as a moisture-proof layer to reduce the absorption of ground moisture by seeds. Diluted with 80% dichlorvos EC and sprayed, the doors and windows were closed for 48 hours and ventilated for 24 hours (hours). Don't use smoke compartments.

two。 Pile it up properly. There are many varieties and grades of flower seeds, but the general number of seeds is not large. In the warehouse, it should be placed on a platform about 50 centimeters away from the wall and 50 centimeters from the ground, and make a sign indicating its location, quantity, packaging, etc., to prevent confusion.

3. Ventilate at the right time. Seed respiration produces large heat, timely ventilation can cool down and dissipate dampness. Generally to "clear rain closed snow can not pass, dripping water into ice can pass, open in the morning and evening, less open at noon, night fog can not open" as the principle. Ventilation is mostly natural ventilation, conditional mechanical ventilation is available.

4. Diligent in checking. The warehouse should check in time and check the water content and germination rate of the seeds after summer or winter. Set up temperature and humidity meters at multiple points in different parts of the warehouse, set people to measure regularly, and make records. Flower seeds must be stored in a low-temperature and low-humidity environment to prevent mildew or decrease in germination rate.
